If there is a glove out there that is CE certified you might look at that. license2ill will be able to point them out if they exist. Other than that Helimot's new gloves look nice:

I use alpinestar GP-Techs, all the higher end stuff from alpinestars are good.

I wil lay my hands on the line for my Teknic Violator Pros. I have tested them and they have performed as intended. Get the 2003 Models cheap.

I use the top model MotoGP gloves. 'Nitrous'. Great mitts for the money.

The absolute BEST gloves 'hands down' would probably be 'Held' gloves.
Not cheap!

I have the Held gloves pictured. I would consider the Helimots, even though I haven't seen them in person. I don't like that the stitching on the fingers is exposed on the Helds.

Everyone I talk to who's serious about protecting their hands says the same gloves - Held Galaxies.

I prefer the outside stitching on the fingers. It's vastly more comfortable than interior seams,
and the stitching really isn't exposed during a spill.

From Held's site- http://www.newenough.com/product_pic...plaination.jpg
'Because the between-the-fingers seam has been relocated part-way up the side of the fingers, there is no pressure from the seam at the base.
A special step seam (the leather sections are simply overlapped and stitched flat) prevents annoying seam buldge, for pressure-free sensitive feel on the controls. Our special seam is very labour intensive (30minutes of handwork are required).'

Many high-end gloves feature similar stitching in the fingers.

Held's gloves are kangaroo hide, as well.

I have the Alpinestar GP Plus gloves. They are a little bit older model, but great gloves, carbon knuckles, kangaroo palm, kevlar liner, finger bridge, etc. etc. I'm sure they aren't considered the "best" glove anymore, but I also believe in diminishing returns. As in, there might be gloves that sell for $700, and mine are about $150, but how much better do they protect? I would venture to guess not a helluva lot better and not at 4 times the price for sure.

The ones to stay away from, based on my observations over several years of track involvement, include Technic Violators, Joe Rockets, and Icon (TiMax). I have found that these gloves generally perform less reliably and provide less crash-worthiness.

You're not likely to find any better than these, or more expensive at about $500/pair:

http://www.bksleather.co.uk/gloves.htm

I like the looks of the new Spidi Penta gloves as well, they look pretty good on paper:

http://www.motonation.com/item.asp?...&pid=327&rdir=1

The new Teknic Speedstar gloves seem well thought-out as well:

http://www.teknicgear.com/catalog.php?styleid=1&pid=17

The Clover RS3 gloves look really nice, and are fairly exclusive:

http://www.cbraceapparel.com/clover/rs3_glove.htm

I'm also intrigued by the stitching techniques and ideas of the Lee Parks gloves, but they don't include any kind of armor or padding:

http://www.leeparksdesign.com/

There is a CE standard for gloves, but apparently no one manfucaturing any gloves to it yet, eventhough its been around for a couple of years, and is considered mandatory by EU law for any gloves for professional use, that claim to be protective equipment, or that market them based on protective qualities. The BKS gloves are probably as close as you will come to a glove that meets the criteria:

EN 13594 – Protective gloves for professional motorcycle riders – Requirements and test methods-

Glove materials are also required to meet international requirements for their innocuousness. Any metal studs or components of other materials which are intended to improve the abrasion resistance of certain parts of the glove must be fitted to a separate external layer and may not protrude to the inside of the glove. Gloves must extend not less than 50 mm above the wrist joint, and are restraint tested to ensure that in use they cannot be pulled off the hand.

There are requirements for tear strength of materials, with the impact abrasion resistance (minimum requirement of 2.5 seconds) sharing the same apparatus described in EN 13595. The tests for strength of seams and impact cut resistance adopt methods from the industrial glove standard. Optional impact protection is tested with an impact energy of 5 Joules and a transmitted force requirement of 4 kiloNewtons.

I'm pretty sure it would be on the Held's if you slid on your fingers. It's fairly obvious if you look at the pictures on New Enough's website. I've heard e-rumors of it the finger stitching blowing out in crashes too, for whatever that's worth. Other than that they're really really nice, I'd be perfectly satisfied if it weren't for that one thing.

Actually those Held gloves are exactly what I had before, and they "held" up really well in a rather high speed crash. I suppose I will just get those again! Thanks for the advice everyone.
