Default Mesh Leather Jacket?

Hey guys... need some advice on a jacket...

I really like the alpinestar leather jackets, but im afraid if its too hot out, I wont wear it. Is leather going to be devastatingly hot in a new jersey summer? should I go Mesh? I heard mesh protects well as well, but its a one crash thing? Is this true? does it protect well. Im sure its not as good as leather, but i want something that I can always wear. Pretty much i know leather is 100times better, but i just need some justification or opinions on wht to do.

Leather is the way to go. Sweating won't kill you. Jersey summer... I'm in New Orleans.

There are different kinds of mesh, some have better armor or upgradable armor pockets(recommended going to CE or similar if not equiped w/ it). Others are composite, mesh w/ leather at places like elbows/shoulders.
FirstGear/ Gericke/ Teknic / Tour Master/ Joe Rocket etc....

Either way they are not expensive and will be preferable to nothing or just shirts/denim etc. If it's a one shot deal, so what. So is a helmet for that matter.

Comfort may go a long way if it means you will continue to be wearing some type of protective apparel despite hotter temps.

Stay w/ lighter colors, yellow, blue etc as they don't absorb the radiant energy as readily. (I had a black one once, tried a blue and sold the black and never looked back) Just the color made a noticable difference when commuting in traffic.

In S. LA we have ooooh, 10 months of summer?

there are lots of companies that use perforated leather in the body of the jacket, with solid leather panels in the arms or where the high impact points are. Joe Rocket makes them, I have one from Triumph, just look around.

I just got my Astar Ice jacket a few weeks ago, and although it hasn't been that hot lately, it has great ventilation. I haven't ridden with it in 90 degree weather yet, but in the 80's it was fine. I even wore it while walking around bike week without sweating.

Take a look at this Fieldsheer "Mach 2" jacket. Leather in the impact/slide zones with hard armor, mesh in the rest. Highly adjustable, liner, nice quality.

I got mine about a month ago, worn it about 10 times so far, but love it.

i think mess is fine (am in las vegas so you know it gets hot here) you can always get some under armor to wear under the mess jacket. here in the summer 110 plus weather is tooooooo hot for leather (but than again might not want to be on a bike until night time). good luck and just dont crash and it wont matter what you wear!!! joke
