Default Cooling System Troubles

Okay.. here's the deal. I rode home tonight and parked my bike in the garage and shut it completely off. When I came outside 30 minutes later there was a big puddle of coolant around my front tire. It's hard to tell if it came from the overflow tube or the reservoir and dripped out of the fairings. As I walked down the street i could see where a lot of coolant came out as i braked to pull into the driveway. There were a few drips all the way down the street.

It was a cool night (about 75deg). I hit a little bit of traffic on the highway and the temp. went up to about 224 then i took side streets to get home. That's a pretty normal temperature for my bike in traffic, maybe a little warm for this time of year.

At home, I looked in the reservoir and couldn't see any coolant, so I filled it up with distilled water and let the bike idle. In about 10 minutes it got up to 218, fans kicked in and the temp dropped to 209. Then I rode it up and down the street a few times and nothing out of the ordinary happend.

So my question is. This seems like a low temperature for a boil over (i've got engine ice in it..well now, a lot of distilled water too). In the summer it typically runs in the 230's when i hit traffic. I can't see evidence of a leak anywhere except where coolant came out of the reservoir before. It doesn't look like it's been blowing out of either of the hoses on the left or right side and the radiator caps look clean. Anybody have any ideas? Is this just a boil over from being warm and immediately turning the bike off?

I had coolant issues w/my RC. It would leak coolant from time to time but I could never pinpoint where it came from. I ended up just tightening up the clamps on all of the hoses used for the radiator coming and going and the issue went away.

Yeah, I've got that done now. Logic tells me that's probably the culprit, but Im a motorcycle-hypochondriac...it's a severely aggravating affliction.
