Default Thinking about buying an RC51...please help!

A local bike shop has a brand new 2004 RC51 (zero miles and never titled). The salesman says that they bought 4 of them back in 2004, and this is the last one that they have. I was looking at it, and he said that he would "give me a deal" on it. He said they would sell it for $10,000. Before I try haggling with them on the price, I was wondering if this is a good deal, and if not, what price should I be aiming for? We worked out all the financing and everything, and with $5500 down, my payment would be about $109 a month for 60 months. Should I do it, or should I keep looking?

Oh, and BTW...I found it strange that it did not have all the decals on it that the 2004's came with (all the sponsors) so I asked about it. They said that the decals were on backorder, and that they would order them for me. Is that normal?

I agree.. keep looking.... might want to try dealers on the internet. I am certain you can find a better deal. If you use JC Motors to transport the bike it is pretty inexpensive. It cost me $599 to transport my RC51 from Dallas Texas to Mentor OH (approx. 20-30 min. east of Cleveland). They crate the bike tie it down and cover it and you get to keep all the tie downs and bike cover.

Check out Southern Powersports in Chattanooga. New '05 for $9800 or something close to it. I know it is sub 10k.

You should be able to get an 04 for way less than that. You can get an '05 for that.....probably. The sticker deal is that they are supposed to keep them in a bag until the owner buys the bike.

I just bought a brand new 03. I had priced a new 04 in Corith, MS for $9600 for just the bike. I wanted the 5 yr warraty and since I was buying outta state I would have had to pay tax (4%) back in Alabama. Total came to $10,300 tax, warranty, bike.

I also talked to the guys in Chattanooga. They dont have an 04, but they are selling the 05 as mentioned above (tax at home, bike, 5yr warranty) for $10,600.

I ended up going with the 03 for $9250 OTD with 5yr warranty. They really are great bikes. I have had this one for 5 days ad have got a little better than 800 miles.

You can also go to the Honda site and search for all dealers in your state and call all of them and ask if they have a new left over model. I actually found a few in Alabama.

-good luck
