What's the difference between the RC51 and the TL1000R? I've ridden a Tiller, and just loved the sound, but there was so damned much wrong with the bike, I just couldn't justify the pricetag. (bad chain and sprockets, bad fork seals, and the bike felt like it was wobbling the whole test ride). I know it was just the bike, and would like to look at another sportbike Vtwin, but kinda rare, you know?

Look, it's a great bike!
But it's still a four+ year old bike for $12k. The most expensive sport bike in Honda's lineup.
You could buy a three year old Ducati for less, and it would be a generation ahead of the RC51.

Honda knows they've made the most perfect pure sportbike and they're smart enough to leave it alone.
Sure you can buy a used Duc for cheaper and I almost did. Then I realized that Ducs need valves checked way to often. Parts are expensive and I'd be buying a used bike. I wanted something new and a little less snooty and more reliable than a Duc. The RC was an easy pic after I spent a few miles on one.
After the first ride on the RC you realize no other bike can make you THIS happy for so little money. I don't even have after market pipes and I love mine. Something about gear driven cams makes me smile.

If it's not discontinued I doubt they will ever make any changes to it other than color since it's not race anymore by American Honda.
I have to agree. even though it's a great bike, and everyone I talk to loves it, Honda doesn't race it, and therefore, probably won't pour too much money into engineering on it. Maybe they'll change up plastics or headlights, but their inline-4 1000cc is their bread and butter. Sportbikes have always been in a horsepower war, and the twins can't compete in the 14k rpms horsepower peaks.
It's the same with my Superhawk. I love it, and it would be great if they'd update the engine and fairings, to make it a bit more modern, but at least it's easier to sell when it's the current body style - mines a 1998, but looks like an 05
