Default RC-51 Questions

So I'm looking for a new bike, and I'm not set on anything specifically, but the RC has caught my eye several times.

Is it reasonable to think that I could find a mint RC for under $6k with no more than about 9k miles?

Are there any issues to watch out for if I look at a RC? Any differences between the years that I should be aware of?

I doubt that you'll be able to find many RC's under $6k I've seen quite a few between $6-7500 though.

I think the old saying "you get what you pay for" comes into play here. You're looking for a perfect bike for a not so perfect price. Unfortunatly, deals like that are hard to come by. Not impossible, but not an easy task. Keep in mind that the RC51 is not as mass produced as other models, which is a contributing factor to the bike maintaining it's value even in used form. Be realistic and expect to pay the money for the condition of the bike. A mint RC51 is going to be getting the upper end of book value.
As far as significant changes, the bike changed from the SP1 to the SP2 in 2002. This was the year with the largest number of changes that were significant. If possible, I would recommend sticking with the 2002 or newer to keep the benefit of these changes. But like anything else, the newer the bike...the more expensive. Good luck in your search. I think you'll probably be pleased with the RC51 provided you have decent sportbike riding experience behind you already.

Beautiful bikes. I wanted one myself until I got my deal on my 10. Heat dissipation sucks at least out here on the surface of the sun. Stable on the track and full of torque.

Mint RC with under 9K you are looking at about 8-9K. Under 6K you get into problem bikes, salvage titkles, bikes that have been dropped etc. The RC is speciatly bike out here. Hell the dealers dont even get them out here unless someone orders them.

If you have 6K your money is best spent on a year old super sport Will. Add 2500 and I think you will find an RC that fits what you are looking for.

Let me know what you decide. I am glad the insurance took care of ya. Dickhead
