Shootings at Ft. Hood

At least one U.S. soldier opened fire Thursday at Fort Hood, Texas, killing 12 people and wounding 31 others, military officials said.
One gunman was shot to death, and two other soldiers were in custody, Lt. Gen. Bob Cone told reporters. It was not immediately known whether the victims were all soldiers or civilians, but Cone said at least one of those killed was a civilian police officer and NBC affiliate KCEN-TV of Waco reported that at least four SWAT officers were among those wounded.
Fort Hood, one of the largest military complexes in the world, was on lockdown, as were schools in the area.

They're reporting the shooter was Major Malik Nadal Hasan. I'm gonna hold off on the "foreign" sounding name, but for a Major to come off the rails like that is newsworthy in and of itself.

My sister lives just west of Ft. Hood, brother -in-law did 20 years in armor and now does benefits counseling for the state...this is going to hit that part of world hard.

Local news is reporting that he is a "muslim convert of Jordanian descent" and could possiby have been a Doctor. (psychiatry) They have been saying all day long that he used two pistols in the attack but are now saying that it could possibly have been an M-16. At this point I wouldn't trust much they are reporting.

If he was a doctor, that would make more sense for someone of his rank to go full retard. Medical people often come in commissioned as Captains or Majors, so he might not have been in the Army all that long.
