Happy Flag day.
I will say that your garage needs to be repainted if you are going to put a flag on it. The American flag should be treated with respect and kept up.

I don't. He put effort into it and America has been bruised and battered her entire life its fitting.
Looks like a flag of a hard working American who is just proud of his country.

Ah, so you think it's cool to fly a tattered flag then as well, because it's "bruised and battered"?
I'm very proud of my country. Proud enough of the flag to take care of it.

I don't remember seeing a FLYING flag on his garage more like a painted one.
Big difference.
I still have a mini flag that I had rolled up and stuck through the webbing of my flak from Iraq and it is on a window in my apt. And will till I choose to change it.
If it was a tattered flag then I could understand but saying he should spruce up his garage come on

I think whymista is stupid enough to agree with me when I say that a flag is a flag.
Someone putting a flag up is good enough for me. If you take care of the flag, that's even better. Having one up is better than not having one at all.
Especially if it's painted, because that just rocks.
Thanks for the thread, it makes me happy.

Thanks for the words of encouragement everyone.
By the way, that isn't my garage; I just noticed it driving through Carmel Valley and thought it would make a great looking backdrop for a picture.
On the subject of old looking flags, that reminds me of one of my favorite songs, Johnny Cash's "Ragged Old Flag". For those who haven't heard it, please listen to the lyrics one time:

Sorry, there is flag etiquette.
The flag should always be respected and kept in good shape, no matter where you put it.

Well then that guy should paint his garage.
As far as the Cash song, you're quoting a left wing person as your justification? Surprise, surprise.
Also, this is no justification. There is flag etiquette.
Flag etiquette, along with flag hall of shame at the bottom
