Default Confidence GONE

Karl Denninger. This guy's financial commentary is a must-read for anyone who truly cares about what is going on in the economy.

Confidence GONE: More Concealment by Government

Quote:

What else is there to say?

The last time we were here it was May of 1997.

Ten full years of market gains are gone. Evaporated. Finished.

Confidence is absolutely destroyed. The government, which is an 80% owner of AIG, failed to warn prior to the company claiming that it will report a $60 billion loss next week and if it doesn't get more government money by Monday it will file for bankruptcy.

This aborted a nascent rally off the lows and shoved us to NEW lows - the closing lows.

Folks, this is the government. It is not an "ordinary correction." It is the intentional hiding of losses and the truth from the American people along with investors worldwide.

These acts are pure evil; they are premeditated, intentional, and have destroyed confidence, and unless the government stops this right now we are going to be seeing the DOW at 3,000 before the end of the year, the S&P will lose 50% or more of its remaining value (yes, that means the S&P will trade near 350 - or worse), 20% of the S&P 500 will go bankrupt and 20% of America will be unemployed.

It is that simple.

Your 201k that was a 401k is headed for a 51k.

Thank our President and his administration.

He promised change.

We didn't get it, and the market called his bluff.
Did you catch the bit about the new $60 BILLION loss from recently bailed-out AIG? Read it again.

Folks, it's time to wake up from the quaint "hope and change" rubbish, before it's too late.

Got any alternatives? Just asking, because the answer is most likely no. Here's another question- is AIG's management government installed, or are they the same hacks who went on vacation bigtime right after their bailout last year?

I think the answer is obvious. Another round of bonuses!!

If these guys were Special Olympians, they wouldn't deserve spirit awards. Why do they deserve bonuses? Obvious imcompetence at the helm.

Read more Denninger. There are alternatives to what this government is doing, and he talks about it at great length.

Everything the government is doing is making the situation worse. Much worse.

WTF? A month and three days is way more than enough time to fix this mess. Fire him!

I just looked at Denninger's website. I see a whole lot of huffing and puffing, but not much else. He's a sensationalist blogger who appears to mix in just enough truth to hide the depths of his vacuous snark.

Show me where I'm wrong, please.

Maybe if he'd STOP trying to fix it we'd be a lot better off.

right. I've also heard that burying you head in the sand was being mentioned as an alternative originally, but then someone kicked the ostriches out of the room.
