Politics & ReligionWell Since every damn forum has one. Might as well leave it out there. This place is loosely moderated and should not be entered if you're weak of heart.
I agree that both parties are flawed, and like Dakota I truly hope for humanity's sake that racism is not as rampant as we would believe.
My position is that most politicians are elitists, and once in office get down to business lining their pockets with cash and serving the interests of themselves and their friends. I believe that most take liberties with their positions at the expense of the taxpayers, all the while breaking promises they used to get elected in the first place.
I have no facts to back that up, but I don't think many would argue this being the case. I'm sure there are some good souls in every political party that truly mean well and try and represent the will of people who put them in office, but I'd say those are a minority.
So it seems you can take the girl out of the beauty pageant, but you can’t take the beauty pageant out of the girl.
Palin's clothes came from retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus and Barneys New York, and expenses included nearly $5,000 for hair and makeup. Maybe this is actually her one-woman economic stimulus plan. Lord knows the retail sector needs it.
Still, voters must find it unfathomable for Palin, who has been presented as a woman “like us,” to spend that kind of money on clothes in these difficult financial times, to see her speaking so passionately about Joe the Plumber while plumbing campaign coffers for Valentino jackets and pencil skirts. And yet, they’ve eaten it up, tittering on chat sites about Palin’s Kawasaki eyeglass frames and her Naughty Monkey red peep-toe pumps.
Palin’s spokewoman is saying this is much ado about nothing, that we should be talking about more important issues. But can you imagine the outcry if it were revealed that Hilary Clinton’s rainbow of pantsuits was paid for by campaign contributions? Or if college kids’ $50 checks to the Biden/Obama campaign were putting those men in $5,000 custom suits? (Obama’s suits are by Hart Schaffner Marx out of Chicago, and cost in the $1,500 range.)
So in one thread you basically call 33% of the Republican party racist
Then in another you use the term 'cracker', which last time I looked is a derogatory term for a white person
Then you have the nerve to say that you see no folly in your claim that 1/3 of a political party is in some fashion racist
Then you say I belittled Obama supporters by saying that I do not see him as the savior that some people do. If that truly offended you, your skin is too thin to play in the P&R forums...
Yet - you have named 1/3 of the Republican party racist, and you have a jab at McCain in your sig (you never justified how that was not 'belittling', you just said I was being 'over the top'. Tell me the difference, sir.)
You took my statement about persons following Obama literally and said that there are NO Obama supporters that believe that, then run and hide when I post a link. Farrakhan has his own followers - he's not some guy on the sidelines with an opinion, people follow his lead)
I am now to believe that Republicans spun the statements made by Farrakhan? Are you ashamed to let the man have an opinion? I could care less how you (or he) feels about Obama, but it is pretty pompous to think you have all the answers and then shy away when someone points out a fact.
Furthermore, you make it a habit of finding some small point to pick with every post that you don't agree with.
I called the Republican Women's party 'bored housewives', and you took exception? Give me a break. You tried to label me as sexist for saying it. For what they did they don't deserve my respect, but you can email them and if they have grievances with my comment I'd be glad to discuss it directly with them. I'm sure they are all grown women and don't need you policing the internet for them or defending their honor.
The only spinning I have been subjected to is your web of
Whatever. You can muddy up the discussion however you like, but it doesn't change the fact that your views have been manipulated. I'm sorry you don't like that, but there simply are no Democrats claiming Obama is a savior (only Republicans claiming there are and there are simply too many disparate racist events for you to claim they're simply outliers. Lastly, I've never portrayed my opinion that about a third of Republicans are racist (or dumb for that matter) as anything more than my opinion.
My other opinion is that you are much too reluctant to admit you've been fooled and that it has colored your opinions. They're experts, and it's not like you're the only one. They play to your vanity which, excuse me, seems to be prodigious.

Whatever helps you sleep at night...
I'm not the one plugging a candidate in my avatar. I'd say if anyone had drank the kool-aid it would be you my friend.
Still have not mentioned anything about your 'cracker' remark. Are you admitting you are a racist, and therefore no better than 1/3 of the Republicans you claim share your racist views?

I knew you'd come around if you just thought about it.
