company X gross income was 1,000,000,000.00 for the year. that company employs 5,000 full-time people at $9.00 an hour (market wage). the total net earnings of all employees is 86,400,000.00 or 8.64% percent collectively of total gross revenue. who can afford to pay more in taxes?

Another question: Think of it this way. Right now if you own your home, but do not have kids, your rather substantial property tax payment is putting other people's kids through school.

I plan to never have kids, and I will pay for most of my life for other people's children to go to school.

Do I rant and stomp my feet about marxism?

No.

Why?

Because I understand that better educated kids help make a better society.

This "Me first, Me only" thinking has to stop, it not only misses the forest for the trees, its just not how an efficient society operates.

Yes, absolutely that is what I believe.

I would like to see a program where the govt offers a fair tax rebate for community service work.

Hell, I would be fine with a requirement that every citizen perform some kind of community service every year (assuming they are able).

We as a country have lost all sense of community...just look around your own neighborhood....unless you have been there for YEARS, most neighbors hardly know each other's names.

Obama is no more socialist than Bill Clinton.

Socialist is just another term the Right likes to label people who don't think the wealthy should be able, by virtue of their power and wealth, to suck the lifeblood outta the country at the expense of the bulk of the citizenry.

if obama is a socialist then mccain is a facist, thats how obama needs to spin it if were going to play little mind games. only a republican could use the term "spread the wealth" negatively.

Sinking to those tactics is exactly what Obama should not do. He can complete his pwnage of McCain by talking about the issues. The more McCain and Palin wave their hands and stomp their little feet yelling "Socialist!!!" the more marginalized they become.

Apparently, America stands for the right to wage class warfare as you distribute wealth in a corrupt system so that 10% of the people own 99% of the wealth and land.

Now that is just silly. You know the point I am trying to make, our sense of community is essentially gone.

Anonymity on the internet and our sense of community are two very very different concepts.

And quite a few people on here know my name, address and have met me in person. My picture is up too, with my wife.
