That's the plan. After all, somebody needs to change the sheets.

Likewise, Obama shouldn't be sneered at for championing public school funding despite having the means and opportunity to send his children to a better school.
Seriously, though - what would be the harm to our country if we took the money currently used for nation building, and spent 10% on educating our kids (and the rest of it on the f**king deficit)? Wouldn't a nation of smarter, more educated people be a good thing?

OK. Step back and think about what you just wrote. The plan is to nurture a class of elites, educated and credentialed, and a vast underclass to serve them.

The power of the government lies in keeping the governed populace unaware.

Right. So why would any anti-government type person NOT support public education? It's like an inoculation against fascism.
I guess at heart the conservatives really are pro-government despite all their bleatings - as long as it's their government, not everyone's.

If you are unaware that you are unaware, how would you support becoming aware?
I really don't think that there is an organized conspiracy to keep people completely uneducated, but it certainly seems like the government is not all that interested in actually creating a environment conducive to education.

I just love how "the government" is somehow a faceless, monolithic entity. Look, , the government is made up of people, and currently most of those in high positions are GOP/neocon appointees bent on destroying said government, and making the USA a corporatist paradise.
