Phil, You are obviously smarter than I am because of how roundly your are attacked around here

Seriously, what does the gubment do better than the private sector?

Don't dare say the military

Yes, lethal fighting force but as monitarily efficient as watering your lawn with a fire hydrant and 6 1/4" hose..

my intarweb froze up last night. oh well.
as far as understanding the economics of the healthcare system, I'm literally surrounded by it day in and day out, I don't have much of a choice. Having a keen interest in economics doesn't help either.

That's not possible. They will find a counter argument that says it's still a better system.

I'm starting to think that in order to 'shut them up', let's try universal healthcare for 1 year.

Remember, that in most everything that you try to gain in efficiency that will save money, will always cost jobs.

There's a HUGE difference between a vacation in Belize and actually moving there. The only thing it's got going for it as a place to live is that most folks speak English.

Hey...it's an underdeveloped country.

Since both you guys live in the PNW, I would give you about a month before you'd say, "Damn, where does a guy get a decent espresso around this place? And a good steak. And why does my mail take three weeks to get here?

I've lived in Mexico and spent 30 years traveling all over Meso-America. My advice is "vacations only." You'll love it. Rum's cheap, the cute little fuzzy-butt college chicks on spring break from the states are all ready and willing, and the Caribbean water is spectacular.

But it's an underdeveloped country. It's the small shit that gets to you every time.

Yeah, but at least the people who lose their jobs will still have health care, so I'm sure they'll be happy

Does that create a black hole or some kind of infinite loop?
