The only people a draft would piss off are the rich of this country, or those with other opportunities who don't want to get their hands dirty. Whether it be a draft or not, our wars are being fought by the lower class (with some exceptions) because they have no other options. I think its about time everyone gets their hands dirty.

Besides, Starship Troopers rock.

The trouble with that is you are encouraging a socialist non thinking society. the military is not for everyone, plain and simple, but to advocate creating a society of non thinking drones that automatically do their governments bidding goes against the very foundation of this country.

Time for everyone to get their hands dirty? The war is illegal and immoral, I'll never fight and die for such evil imperialistic nonsense.

Sorry to tell you this...but the rich don't get drafted...they get deferments or National Guard duty. Yes there are people in the military who don't want to be there...I saw people arrive with LEO escorts and some in handcuffs because they broke the law by not reporting when drafted and were arrested.
You think people who volunteered and then decided they were unhappy and wanted to leave can possibly be as disgruntled or cause as many problems as people who were literally, physically forced to report, you are mistaken

Which one? Though I agree that Operation Iraqi Liberation was perhaps just a little tiny bit horrifically misguided and evil, I don't think our presence in Afghanistan is unjustified.
Although, if we'd never had people in Afghanistan back during the Cold War, there'd have been no bin Laden network to facilitate lobbing airliners at our skyscrapers.

As opposed to automatically doing what the TV tells them? The way I see it, we're already dangerously close to the drone stage, regardless of causation.
Besides, I only said one-two years. I don't think that's enough to grind the individuality out of people. And I was talking about civil service, not just military.

The military and television aren't comparable.
