Well it seems it's par for the course for Washington.
I'm all for 'beefing' the military, but if we don't start expanding our Special Operations Forces (and their budgets for training, equipment etc) more troops won't mean much in today's environment.
The other benefit to this is that people who volunteer to go into the military, then volunteer for the toughest training and end up in Special Operations Units (SEALS, Force Recon, Rangers, Special Forces etc etc) know what they are training for, and most stay for the long haul. But if we don't start expanding their numbers, we'll keep deploying these guys until they get exhausted.

Actually, this is from something called the "World Socialist Web Site," published, they proudly note by the "International Committee of the Fourth International."
I shit you not.

I guess that must mean that Obama isn't really a Socialist, then, since they don't like him.

Gumshoes criticizing the source of the article again I see. Those quotes are probably correct, so don't sit here and pretend that this is so far removed from his new world order speech in Berlin. Both candidates are utterly unconscionable choices, each with their own unique vision for the collapse of America.

Doesn't count for shit to those who have already made up their minds about who they support.

You're saying the military as it is now doesn't havent people there who dont want to be there? Couldn't be farther from the truth, fact of the matter is, many people are forced into the Military due to their lack of education, lack of money, and other circumstances. There are plenty of people in the military who would like to be doing something else, but the military was their last option.
The only people a draft would piss off are the rich of this country, or those with other opportunities who don't want to get their hands dirty. Whether it be a draft or not, our wars are being fought by the lower class (with some exceptions) because they have no other options. I think its about time everyone gets their hands dirty.

With troops in well over 100 countries the answer is simple, start pulling out and putting them where they need to be. Our military is bloated, very bloated but only becouse we have the "we need more mentality" no we dont, we need to take charge, shrink the fuck out of it to realistic levels and you would still have more than enough people to should the need arise.
