I have the impression that you've based these judgements on some surface study.

1. Social Security is responsible for cutting the number of seniors who live in poverty by half.
2. As has been said, your argument bears no relationship to what Gramm said. He said our economic difficulties were completely imaginary and that the only reason they are being talked about is that we are a "nation of whiners."

I saw McCain interviewed by a local TV reporter in Pittsburgh and the question - an obiovus softball - was something along the lives of "How did you survive being in captivity in VN?"

McCain's reply: "By thinking about the Steelers. I gave false answers to my captors about who my COs and colleagues were by naming members of that great Pittsburgh defensive line."

Nice story for all those Pittsburghers, but...

1. McCain says in his book that he used the names of the 60's Green Bay Packers.

2. The "great Pittsburgh defensive line" wasn't great until the 70's, after McCain was already home.
