Default What's the difference between changing one's position and flip floping?

And are they equally "bad" ?

Changing ones position is just changing it... Flip floping is chaning it, then changing back, then changing it again... and so on.

There has to be a math problem that knows the party of the flipper and the person taking issue with it.

Changing position is a sex act.

And, flip flopping, is a sex act.

A "flip-flop" is a complete reversal of stance that results from a change in political climate rather than a change in the situation.

Obama suddenly deciding the telecom immunity is OK when he had previously stated the opposite is a flip-flop as it resulted entirely from a need to garner votes rather than any change in the situation.

Obama stating that he is open to revising his stance on Iraq based on information is not a flip-flop as it is simply an recognition that changing circumstances require changing approaches.

How about the difference between a flip-flopper and a waffler?

Same distraction tactic -- different election cycle.

Here's a treat - a flip-flop as it happens.

Here's the flip:

Quote:
People say a lot of things about Social Security -- a lot of it nonsense. But I haven't heard something like this in a long time. John McCain says that Social Security, as originally conceived more than 70 years ago, is an "absolute disgrace."

McCain told a townhall in Denver on Monday, "Americans have got to understand that. Americans have got to understand that we are paying present-day retirees with the taxes paid by young workers in America today. And that's a disgrace. It's an absolute disgrace and it's got to be fixed."

It's really a disgrace? That's how the system was designed to operate. And it's served as financial bedrock of retirement security in this country for going on a century.
Any bets on how long it takes him to flop on that one? I'm guessing close of business today.

I won't take that bet.

Hey about his trip here, there were a few people who showed up at his Town Hall Meeting and one was carrying a sign that said McCain = Bush. McCain's people called the cops to get rid of them. The woman with the sign asked the police what law they were breaking and she was then cited for interfering with a police officer.

I guess McCain = Bush was a low blow.
