In my opinion, if the troops that are currently mired in Iraq had been sent to Afghanistan instead, to do the right job, it might be over by now, but the Moron In Chief had to split our forces by invading the wrong country, thus reducing the absolute effectiveness of our military to the point where neither situation might be retrievable. Where's Bin Laden again?

God, what a sad state of affairs. What a fucking mess we're in. Why would anyone want to be the POTUS in these times?
If I live to be a hundred, I will despise George W. Bush to my dying day for what he did to us all. He is an abject failure and he dragged us all down with him.
I for one wouldn't complain too much if we pulled out of Afghanistan in addition to Iraq. We sure as fuck aren't accomplishing anything there, and that isn't likely to change.
It's entirely sad that you'd use this news to crack another one of your glib jokes. If you were determined to prove yourself as an asshole, mission accomplished!
Fact is, the invasion of Afghanistan was a legitimate action that would have been over (with the death of Bin Laden and his inner circle) if it hadn't been sidetracked by the Iraq folly. It was supported by everyone here who opposes the Iraq war.
This has to be your lowest and most despicable post ever. I hope each one of these dead soldiers visits your dreams. Nightly.
Considering that, IIRC, we're spending as much in a week in Iraq as we spend in Afghanistan for an entire year, I'd say some changes in emphasis are in order.
Happily, President Obama plans to make those changes.

wait we can leave just yet since we have our eyes on Iran now
"President Bush has repeatedly said that a military strike on Tehran is possible as a last-resort if Iran continues to pursues uranium enrichment and fails to heed other Security Council demands."

I am pretty sure dumb'ya is some kind of Manchurian Candidate. Afghanistan is going just like Afghanistan did for the British and Russians. You go in, get done, and leave. Afghanistan is quick sand, and the Taliban or whoever their successors are in future conflicts will just flow back in like water. Getting in, nailing Osama bin Laden, and getting out was our best course of action, and the only course of action possible to avoid getting sucked in to a mess.
Iraq is a disaster. I have opposed the invasion since the start, but when dumb'ya went on and did it, I hoped it was another instance of getting in and getting out. He blew the opportunity to agree with al Sistani and hold early elections. That would have solved a lot of problems by co-opting a potential foe and marginalizing people like al Sadr. Instead, the administration poked around and stirred up a lot of problems by planning extremely poorly.
Now, they are acting in a predictable pattern with Iran. The pattern is exactly the same in Afghanistan, Iraq and now Iran. I expect a full-on war before the end of dumb'ya's term now. It seems inevitable, and it will cause the price of oil to double again. It will also be poorly planned and have no fallback strategy. It will be disastrous for the troops dumb'ya has been hiding behind as he grinds them up.
We had the opportunity to neutralize Iran as an enemy when we invaded Afghanistan, but we smacked them down. Instead of diplomacy, we did dick-waving. I can't tell you how frustrating this has all been or how grindingly predictable it has all been. The future looks like this:
Afghanistan will be a lawless tribal land in most places, and the Taliban will control large areas for a long time.
Iraq will be a dictatorship within the next five years and will stay stable only due to the repressive nature of the dictator. As it stands now, I expect a Shia dictator aligned with Iran.
If we invade Iran, we won't get too far, not because our military can't thump on their military, but because we are running out of people and equipment. Iran will recede like Afghanistan and Iraq did, but it will be even more ungovernable than Iraq and will end up moving much farther right than it is even now. Its hostile thocracy will persist much longer than if we had let it die of its own internal deadness.
At home, our economy will continue to weaken, maybe for decades. The deficit will cause stagflation similar to the 70s. It may be worse, or it may be more benign, but the seeds are there. Invading Iran will only water those seeds, since any Iranian excellent adventure will be more expensive than the Iraqi excellent adventure. We will either have to tax the living bejeebers out of ourselves to pay back the debt, or we will watch the dollar become the new lire. We will pull out $10,000 notes to buy a couple euros.
Back to the original question- no it probably isn't time to pull out of Afghanistan yet, but it sure is time to figure out an exit strategy. At least we have some real allies there, unlike Iraq. If we invade Iran, we will really be on our own, and we may make enemies we don't have now.
Maybe dumb'ya really does want to end the American experiment or bring on Armageddon. He's doing his best.
