Hey, Good News!
Millionaires club gets bigger, members richer: Financial News - Yahoo! Finance
The United States, Japan and Germany still had the highest number of wealthy individuals, however. The U.S. is home to about a third of those around the world with at least $1 million.

Come to N-NJ nearly every one here is one. At least on paper.
You want a nice house with enough room for yourkids and a garage....well that's going to set you back about that much.

When I was in Maryland I kept asking myself where all the money comes from. The countryside up near Aberdeen had nothing but large homes on lots of land.
The East Coast costs more than most realize.
A million ain't what it used to be.

Even on paper that doesn't count if you don't own it. Having a $1,000,000 house with a $900,000 mortgage doesn't make you a millionaire, even on paper.

No I'm talking about the older homes. The ones that were oh say $100k in the arly 80's.
Just based on the land and location you could easily own a million dollar home and not even know it! Doesn't mean you're rich.

I must be fishing with the wrong bait as no one took it.
I was waiting for someone to say wealth is bad.
My response would have been that when the wealthy don't want to live in America, you might not want to either.

Careful, talk like that will have them taking from you and giving it to the "less fortunate".

I am working on my second million. The first one has proven to be quite elusive, so I figured skipping it and going right to the second would be easier.

You maybe put it in the wrong place. This morning I was waiting at the vet for the cat's appointment, and picked up a magazine that turned out to be from the Wildlife Foundation. Apparently they had run an article in a previous issue about how poverty in many countries is a barrier to environmental preservation, that lifting people out of poverty might help them to care about their environment and work to improve it. In this issue, some clown had written in a letter taking them to task for that. His claim was that it was the wealthy that have caused all the environmental damage in the world and that it was therefore foolish and not desirable to increase their standard of living; he literally said "we don't need to make them more like us, we need to become more like them". I'm thinking he needs a one-way ticket to Myanmar.
