So what "face value" words in Revelations point to the good ol' US of A?

I'm dying to know.

If you are really dying to know, read the whole thing man. I know it's long but it's interesting; I read most of it. At least read the first 1 and a half pages to get a good view of how the scripture points to a modern nation of many cities (which therefore excludes Rome), with a large seaport presided over by a Queen (statue of liberty in New York) where the nations of the world meet (United Nations). There's more to it but I don't have that kind of encyclopedic memory.

Just be prepared and be thinking about it a little bit. I kind of posted it out of frustration, cause you know, you can go up to any random person on the street and they know times are getting harder and the world is going crazy, but if they are a Christian and you ask them what they think about Revelations they have their eyes on some non-existent fantasy land far into the future, and they could never accept that Babylon of Revelations is actually America here and now; because all the TV preachers and churches and writers pumping out these "end-times" books are all teaching doctrine that is contrary to what the Bible actually says. They are picking and choosing and you can't do that, you gotta take it word for word.

Revelations was written as basically a warning to all followers of Christ and a sign of things to come, but what good is it if people are always trying to force the words to mean something that fits their perspective? If you can see it for what it is and nothing more that puts you FAR ahead of the sheeple, whether they refer to themselves as Christians or not.

Which version of the Bible did you read? The original Aramaeic (sp?), the one after Constantine and the Niceen Creed, the King James, the New Standard Edition, or maybe one of those new illustrated ones with all the pretty pictures of Jesus as a blond white man? I'd bet a whole heap of whatever you want that they are all rather different from each other in both word AND interpretation of meaning. So, which one's right, and does it actually refer to the good ol' US of A, considering that the folks who originally wrote Revelations thought the Mediterranean was the only ocean that existed, and the lands bordering it were the entirety of the, then flat, world (Divine inspiration is not an option).

Well shit man, Brazil and Greece have great shipping ports and have the worlds most sexually active populations.

but since your reading revelations, are you one of the what it 200,000 people that get to go to heaven?

Do you have Caanite ancestory? Cause you go to hell then too.

The anti-Christ isn't a person, its just a term for anything that is opposite of Christ. Anything that embodies evil is of the anti-Christ.

Yeah I'm familiar with all that tweaking and manipulation of text through the ages. Quite frankly, I don't read the Bible at all (although I have in the past), but if I did I would definitely stay far away from the King James version. If I hear some text quoted somewhere that I think is interesting I'll check it out and determine how I feel about it.

I'm pretty sure Revelations was written strictly by Paul, and is solely from a dream he had.

All the conditions listed in that article have to be true, not just one. Brazil isn't the leader among nations with many cities, all the nations of the world don't meet there, etc.

Ya know, for hundreds of years (just on the biblical end) people have been saying the world is gonna end.

Sooner or Later someone's gonna get it right. Thats not rocket science by any stretch of the Imagination.

My suggestion to you is to get as far away from this bullshit as you possibly can, travel the world with as open mind as possible. And read OTHER THINGS besides christian propaganda.

Have fun man, Life has its ups and downs, but to sit in your misery preaching this bullshit benefits nobody at all and only makes your life more miserable.

Oh and watch this, I have read the bible and the Koran, so I think you can at least sit thru this 10 minute clip.

Life is a search for truth, and while the Bible isn't perfect and a whole false religion was spawned from the original teachings of Christ, some things in it are true. And for you to call it christian propaganda is ignorant of you; no self-proclaimed christian is gonna agree with that logical assessment of Revelations.

I am not miserable, and to say it helps no one just because you personally don't see any value in it is also not necessary true. The world (as we know it) IS coming to an end, but it will be a time of personal decision as to what is truth and what is false, and those who make the wrong choice will be the ones who suffer the consequences.

Welcome back! Have you met dealsgapdragon yet? You two should hit it off.

As for me, I'm partying like there's only three and a half years left. You said so yourself, right?

I can't wait to say I told you so in 2012.

Please, what consequences are those, burning in hell OHHHHH scary, or if you follow and do what your told you go to heaven, the best place we all dream of where everything is perfect. I would have to say that sounds like the Same loaded BS that parents fed to there children.

The story of a virgin being Knocked up by a god goes back into Pagan times, I suspect just about every religion had that lame one.
But consider this, if your daughter was hanging out wth a guy what, 20 years older than her, and came home preganant and told you god did it, what would you believe?

Seriously man, put forth some common sense here.
