Wow... did not see that coming.... Sad. I'm sadder about Jim Mackay's passing, but that's unfortunate nonetheless....

I'm not a fan, but anyone popping the big one at 58 is a tragedy.

Man too bad for Timm. I thought he was too far right leaning in the past but felt he moved to the middle in the last couple of years. I did try an catch Meet The Press each Sunday.
RIP

Sorry to hear that! TV pundit, or not, he was a decent human being.
Godspeed, TR.

He was a setup for a heart attack. Huge man. I saw him regularly at Orioles games. He had seats directly in front of mine about 6 rows in front of me. Always seemed like a nice guy though. Agree with the Jim McKay statement. He was a great man, who brought the Wide World of Sports to me as a child. Plus a very nice guy with a passion for horses. Always gratious. Great guy.
Bad week for Television.

I watched his show occasionally. Mostly what I knew of him was from election coverage and some key interviews. His politics were never an issue to me, I thought he was pretty objective and fair compared to most.
But when the news broke I was affected rather deeply, strangely enough. And as the coverage rolled on, I was struck by the genuine sadness and loss projected by his colleagues. The many rememberances and stories told by people who knew him and the sincere affection and respect they had for this man was quite profound.
I think this is a great loss to political journalism and to the process in general. He sure left some big shoes to fill, and I hope his legacy continues.
RIP Mr. Russert.

Always loyal to his hometown Bills and Sabres, and possessed of that Jesuit ethic of methodical preparation and doggedness, he simply represented.
The blessing the latter yields is the holy grail we all seek here -- the ability to boil it down to the essentials.
RIP, Tim.

I didn’t think he was that overweight... did he really look that overweight in person? I was absolutely shocked, have been watching him for some years now,
Rest in Peace Tim Russert, you will be missed by many.

I haven't seen him at games for the last few years (mostly cuz I can't stand watching the O's anymore--) but he was big, and fairly pear-shaped so he didn't carry the weight in his upper body (which is what you mostly see on TV)

+1 Russert represented the best of a Catholic education. I prolly represent the worst. The Jebbies were really challenged with me.
