I think this is a good thing especially since the likes of Faux News and McCain can just make up something and people treat it as facts.

Again Obama is proving how to run a campaign in the 22nd century.

Saw that. I think it's a fantastic move, and should defang the GOP mud slinging machine pretty effectively, while allowing Obama to stay on the high road. Of course, there will always be those dimwits who just can't imagine the Faux News, Rush, O'Reilly, or any other GOP/Neocon imagineers could be wrong on anything, but then they'll be few enough to be irrelevant.

It'll be interesting to see if this makes a difference. The people who believe this kind of crap do it as a rationalization to support their desired truth. Any time someone starts with a belief, and then assembles "facts" to support it, they have no intention of discovering the truth. Mostly, they wouldn't know it if it slapped them in the face.

Having your own Snopes site is a novel addition to the political pantheon, though. Better maybe, if they'd paid Snopes to do it.

They don't, but they'll keep trying to add truthiness to whatever made-up rumors they can produce. It's called gutter politics, and Rove perfected it. The GOP doesn't have any other weapons to bring to bear in this fight.

What pure bullshit. They call the fact he did something a 'smear' but point to an instance when he did otherwise. Only morons would get anything out of this site. Pure Bill Clinton semantics. He doesn't normally do something vs. he did it once. Depends on what IS IS.

The thing is, Jim, that hopefully some of the MSM, who usually just go along when something is repeated often enough, will check there before filing stories.

Remember Kerry and the Swiftboating crap? The accusation was repeated over and over and over again until it became a liability for Kerry. "The Big Lie." Right out of Mein Kampf. You never read anything about it being "a false accusation." Always, it was "an accusation." It may have persuaded enough voters in Ohio to pull the lever for Bush, although we'll never know, what with all the shenanigans pulled in Cuyahoga County.

And look what history has blessed us with as a result.
