I used used to listen to him all the time. Even up here, since KGO is a 50K watt clear channel station. Ward was - is - a very bright guy and a hell of a debater. I was really shocked - though not disappointed in view of events of the last several years - that he had a problem. This is no different than Larry Craig, Vitter, Haggard, the Florida guy, and all the rest of them. Trying to be one thing in public and being something else in private.
I imagine his family is devastated. Four young kids, some of them teens, some in college.
The guy was the intellectual toast of SF media. What a shame.

Pretty fucking unfair when those stations depend on advertisers to make profits. And those advertisers want results in the form of people listening to their commercials. And adding useless BS in the name of "fairness" will cause listeners to change stations. And then the stations lose their financial support.
But that's fair to you, since you probably think that money should be going into the Imperial Federal Government in the first place to help pay for somebody's healthcare who is too lazy to go get a job.

Here you go again with the grand generalizations that show your ignorance, misunderstanding of the larger issue, and plain old mean spiritedness.

How is it that when people want to sling insults for no reason, that's fine. But when I state an opinion, it's mean-spirited? I love the double standard you guys got going on here. Fuckin classy.

Doesn't sound unfair to me at all. In fact "fair" is usually defined to mean the same rules apply to everyone so I'd say your "opinion" is invalid.
As to health care, sure there will be some who get to see a doctor who are too lazy to get a job but the system will be fair because people who work their ass off will be able to see a doctor, and their children too.
I don't think you have given this much thought.

Right now it's pretty fair. You can have any political talk show you want, you just have to be entertaining enough for people to listen to. Apparently conservative talk shows know how to accomplish that just a little better than the others.

It's unfair because we're both going on my dime. Lazyass is living off the system that I'm funding.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were going to have to pay for the whole health care system. Perhaps you'll get a break and be allowed to stop funding the war in Iraq.

I have noticed your post, you always make grand generalizations. This one in particular.

You make the assumption that those without healthcare are "too lazy to get a job". This shows your lack of knowledge on the larger issue; some jobs do not provide health care. There are, in America, those that are considered the "working poor". These people will work 40 hours a week and still not receive health benefits. Are they lazy?
The issue that most have with you is that you spout these maxims without having the expierience to bolster your position. Which leads me suspect that these thoughts are not truly yours.
You may believe they are yours because you may have heard them all your life but they may not have been formed by you based on your personal experience. They are inherited much like a dead uncle's Buick.
With that I wish you hardship in life so that you may grow and your heart will soften.

That's awful nice of you, same to ya.
What kind of experience am I required to have before I can unequivocally say that I don't want my tax dollars to fund someone else's existence who is doing nothing to help themselves, not because they are unable, but because they don't have to; the government will do it for them? I am well aware that many people have jobs where health care is unavailable. I am also well aware that many people rely on the government for aid because of temporary unemployment, disability, social security, etc. My generalization was not aimed at those people.

That's the problem, generalizations can't be aimed. That's why they're called generalizations.

I said lazy people. Not disabled people. Not incapable people. You filled in the rest with words I didn't say.

Thank you.
I have had hardships in my life and I expect more. I grow from them and learn. I am not the same man I was at 25. I will not be the same man at 45.
