You may have forgotten, but I started a thread in a previous incarnation about 3 months ago that was titled something like "Bin Laden and the '08 Presidential Election" in an attempt to begin a discussion about how another video tape, or possibly something worse, would affect this years election. I guess it was too soon, because it didn't go anywhere then... but I guess we'll see if anyone's interested now. Another hypothetical... hmmmm....

considered the small diplomatic (and not so diplomatic) moves made recently, we will see some type of foreign action before the fall.
It will almost certainly have some desired effect on the election. How do you think corrupt parties stay in power for so long in latin american countries? As long as they have someone to fight that the people are scared of, the people keep voting for them, even as they are being robbed blind. It's like that big guy you hung out with in high school, you hated the jerk sometimes, but you always wanted him to be around.

as far as an actual prediction, my vote is that we do some navy drivebys on Iran or a close neighbor (syria?) around say septemberish

Since I hang out on a lot of "conspiracy" sites it may be before the fall; perhaps this month or next. I read an AP story today that a laptop siezed during an intelligence oop in Iran that had info on it from 2004 had material on it pertaining to triggers for airburst explosions 600 meters above the ground according to the IAEA. Only thing thats used for is nukes. The National Intelligence estimate that was leaked last fall, supposedly by factions within the military opposed to war w/ iran, stating that Iran was not pursuing nukes was based on older intel.

Define 'major incident'. We might sink a few boats or blow another Iranian airliner out of the sky. But not much more than that.
