Damn-I filled up my ZX9 (Super Unleaded) and $16 later-I left the gas station with that semi-happy look.
I ride to work and back-In the morning it is drizzling.
Damnut! I have to take one of my cars-so I take the Land Cruiser-fill up to the tune of $71.00-I leave the gas station wondering if this fuel thing is going to hit $5 a gallon.
I might have to hunker down and buy a rainsuit...and a Goldwing..

Gas is getting outrageous. Few years ago it took about $12 to fill my car and now its close to $40. Granted its not as much as anyone pays for a truck but its still over triple what I use to pay. In other countries things like this would cause riots but America doesn't do anything about it. Im sure by the end of this year we'll be close to or at $5.00/gallon.

I'm not sure why the gas prices don't bother me much. It's sure as f*ck not because I have a lot of money... I'm a full time college student who is an hourly wage slave to a 45 minute commute.
Gas shoots up to $8 a gallon, I'm getting a Ninja 250 and calling it a day, myself. I haven't had to put gas my Silverado in three weeks and have only used about $20 bucks in gas on the bike. But I suppose I've never really lived in the time when energy wasn't a signifigant cost.

When I was in England last November petrol was about £3.50ish a liter. After currency conversion (even for what it was at the time which was better than it is now) and unit conversion (from liters to gallons), that still a whole lot more than we are paying now or then. People weren't rioting about it at all.
It had a cool side effect for me though. My son's friend was more than happy to drive us around if we just gave him money for gas, b/c he got to drive his BMW a lot more than he would have otherwise.
I miss my 600 a lot when it's time to fill up. I could put 87 in it, but it has to be 91 or above for the 750.
All the Busa needs is 'ol plain 87, and that's all it gets. Still costs about $15 to fill it, but at least I get a good 220 to 130 miles out of a tank.

I'm about the same, I haven't driven my car or truck more than once or twice in the past month, and then I have, it's only because it's been raining or needed to pick someone up. Something tells me my bikes are going to get a lot of use this year and in the years to come.
well it hurts you if you are on a budget (full time student) - i can't even afford to drive my car anymore - The commute to school/work - negates much of what i make at work... I remember filling up for 20 bux in my old car.... sigh... no one is whining.. the fact is, the price has risen so fast in just a couple of years (not on par with inflation), and oil companies are setting record profits... nice to see they are doing well...

Fact is you can credit the mismanagement of the US economy to much of the increase in price. The value of the US dollar has plummeted over the past several years resulting in the increasing cost of foreign goods and materials. It's easy to blame the obvious target (the oil companies), but the truth is often a little more complicated.
I was just in Canada last weekend, and the US dollar is actually worth LESS than the Canadian dollar (.98 to 1). Just a few years ago it was about 1.50 (US) to 1 (CAD).
