Default Presidential Money Race

Bruising Democratic race in Pennsylvania nears finish - CNN.com

This pisses me off. No mention of what either Clinton or Obama are actually accomplishing. Just a report of all the money they've raised and spent. Millions upon millions of dollars spend and they haven't gotten any closer to winning. They haven't fixed any problems or helped any causes. They're just pissing away millions! FUCK! I hate politicians!

They want to solve all these problems, and provide universal healthcare, and bail every dead beat out of their mortgages, but then they spend $30M on commercials and election expenses! It isn't even the general election yet! Imagine how much they'll spend then! Huge conventions and rallies. Huge travel budgets with massive staffs and 5 star hotels and first class tickets. I can't see Clinton or Obama flying coach, staying at a Ramada, and eating at Applebees. FUCK FUCK FUCK!

I can't see me eating at Applebees or staying at a Ramada, either. Too expensive and too mediocre. Chains just suck.

This has been a commercial break. Back to your regularly scheduled rant.

I bet you can see McCain flying coach, though, eh? (Your GOP slip's showing!)

The article only talks about Obama and Clinton. Since they're the ones still battling for the spot, they're the ones in full fund raising mode. I'm sure McCain is doing the same thing, but for now the media (usually left wing biased) is focusing solely on these two. As far as being GOP, I'm not. I'm also not liberal. I actually can't stand any of the candidates this year. I can understand that it would be hard to be a republican because McCain leans to the left more than the traditional conservative, but everyone calls him the continuation of the Bush presidency, figure that out. Obama and Clinton just look like asshats attacking each other and trashing the democratic party. And the debate over who has the most superdelegates is just mind-numbing. Obama is more popular, but Clinton has more important people on her side. I mean, come on! Its not even like the electoral system which at least follows their state's popular vote. The superdelegates are just going to the highest bidder and the biggest ass-kisser at this point. The whole thing is just one big clusterfuck. We'll elect another president with 50.1% of the votes and spend the next 4-8 years bitching some more. The system is flawed. I just hope that in my lifetime, a candidate will emerge that actually inspires the vast majority of Americans.

I saw a headline in the Onion a few months ago. For those of you not familiar, go to theonion.com and prepare to laugh a lot. But it was something like "Edwards Vows To Get Rid of All Bad Things by 2011" All the candidates promise to fix EVERYTHING in four years, yet when's the last time a president has done all that they promise, or even half? Do you really think any of the candidates that want to pull out of Iraq will actually accomplish that in a timely manner? NO! Can they really provide all Americans with affordable healthcare? NO! Can they "fix" the economy once they get elected or stop jobs from moving overseas? NO! Can they suddenly stop and prevent the flow of illegal aliens coming across the borders? Or find all the current ones and make them pay their back-taxes? NO! They'll all be up against interest groups, advisors, congress, the senate, and the media. Their hands will be tied as much as anyone else's.

That's it for now. I need my morning coffee.

OP, i agree man, everytime i see on cnn or foxnews the report of how much they have raised and how much they have spent sickens me ... and these are the ones that are going to "change" how government works, at the same time doing the same things politicans have done for years????

i know they are running for presidency, but shouldn't they be back in washington, dc doing the job they were elected for and currently getting paid for?

You're missing a big point although you come close with your rant about all the money being spent and that is..... Where is the money coming from?

It doesn't matter one fucking bit how much they spend to get elected. They could spend five times what they spend now and it still wouldn't matter.

The only thing that matters is who gave them that money and what do they expect for it in return.

Of the three candidates research who has received most of their money from citizens like you and me and none from corporations.

You need to be fucking bitching about why we don't have campaign finance reform. That the biggest problem with our political process.

No argument here! Like I said in my original post, the whole system is flawed. I laugh every year when TurboTax asks me if I want to donate $3 from my return to the federal election coffers.

But Clock that is the cure man. If every person filing taxes was required to pay $6 for the presidential elections, that would completely pay for what they spend now and then some. Then we could make corporate and PAC donations illegal and that would be the biggest step to clean up Washington that we could ever make.

Hell if it was one or two dollars more to do the same for Congress we should do that too.
