Reminds me of playing rugby. Get hit in the head often enough, and you start to like it! I miss it sometimes, but I am also sure I am dumber on account of it.

So back to the original topic -- I have the impression that the general view on the small town street is "Damn right we're bitter. He's not right about the whole guns and religion thing, but he's certainly right about how we feel."
It'll be interesting to see how this translates at the polls. However it does seem that it went right over the heads of the punditry, and the Clinton/McCain campaigns.

You're absolutely right.
Who was running the congress at that time? Both houses?
Who might that have been?

Isn't it amazing the lengths to which righties will go in order to avoid all responsibilty for the decisions made by the Repuglican Whitehouse, Congress, and Senate since 2000? And all the lame attempts to place the blame solely on the Democrats?
The GOP was in majority control up until just over a year ago. Yet all the righties can do is bitch and moan about how the Democrats failed to stop them from screwing everything up, and how they haven't been able to fix all this crap in the last 16 months, without a veto-proof majority and basically a tie in the Senate (Leiberman ).
You'd think they'd be happy. They had all that power for all that time, and got their way with nearly everything... yet here they are, angrier than ever. Well, guess what... they had their chance and they screwed the pooch. Now they want another frikkin' 4 or 8 years? You gotta be shittn' me. Anybody that would still vote for a Republican after all this is either a hopeless diehard partisan, or unbelievably stupid.

The kid was supposed to jump in here with a comment about personal responsibility (PR).
I guess his enthusiasm for PR wanes when it's republikans being bagged on.
There should also be some fukwit comment about angry democrats and/or bush-haters,
but no.

People that vote by partisan scare me more.
Why put a democrat? Vote for the person running not by what party they are from. Who cares Democrat or Republican....pick the best candidate.

You're kidding, right? You don't realize that when you elect a president to the whitehouse, you are basically putting his/her party at the head of the executive branch?
Why vote for a Democrat? Because the Republicans had their chance and they screwed it up. Now you say they should get another 4 or 8 years? Yikes.
The Democrats may have their faults, but the Republicans have proven themselves to be complete fuck-ups. They've backed Bush in every screw-up he's attempted. McCain is no different when it comes to the same failed policies. That leaves the Democrats, despite whatever fantasies the Libertardians dream up. It's a no-brainer.
