Unwieldy Terrorist Watch List Attacked for Size, Ineffectiveness
The House Homeland Security Committee grilled government officials last week about the government’s terrorist watch list. The list has ballooned to 860,000 people and continues to grow. Members of Congress asked the same question the ACLU has been posing for years: Why is the list so enormous?
“If finding a terrorist is like finding a needle in a haystack, the Terrorist Screening Center has been hard at work creating a bigger haystack, by adding thousands of new names with no end in sight,” said Tim Sparapani, ACLU Senior Legislative Counsel. “The terrorist watch list is not a serious security tool. At the rate it’s been growing, eventually all 300 million Americans will be on the terrorist watch list. Just in time for the busy holiday travel season, the list is about to hit the one million mark.”
A Government Accountability Office report issued last month reported that false positives clog the list, and its massive size effectively renders it useless.

^^ Partisan jack asses.
Here's an idea, quit checking shoes for explosives and watch how long it takes to lose a plane. Obvious death aside, watch what it does to our economy.
As for you three amigos, quit locking your doors at night you non American sissies. Call granny and tell her to do the same.
No more seat belts or helmets, disable your air bags because the founding fathers would be ashamed.
Now you're free!!
Your blind hatred of GWB makes you look the fool so please carry on

This has nothing to do with GWB. You're starting to sound like Jim.

One guy tries to light his shoe on fire, is stopped by passengers, and now we're supposed to live in fear of exploding boots? Sissy. I'll gladly give up the shoe searches for the ability to exercise my CCW on a domestic flight.
But that might scare old ladies and pussified liberals.

High fly ball to left field...
Seatbelts, helmets, and airbags have nothing to do with random searches of my personal belongings by a government agency.
Your problem is that you can't possibly imagine a world where your own government sees you as a threat. History proves you wrong.

If calling Bush a failure makes me look the fool, I'll take the hit. However, I suspect you're just grabbing at your own straws and the only person who agrees with you is (maybe) Dick Cheney.
Why don't you do a poll?

Whoo boy! King of logic! Here's an idea -- let the airlines choose their own security strategies and compete for customers. Then you could choose to fly Strip-Search Air and feel all nice and safe after the rubber glove inspection, and I can choose to fly Packing-Heat Air and feel all nice and safe because I'm allowed to take responsibility for my own safety.
Also, of course, the things you suggest are the opposite of what we're talking about. Locking your doors and wearing your safety gear and so on IS being responsible for your own safety, which is exactly what we are advocating. Letting the government trample on your rights for false assurances of safety is different from that.
Our hatred of GWB and his policies is eyes-open and fully informed.
It is your blind following of GWB makes you look the fool.

=====
It was revealed on "60 Minutes" this past Sunday that only 50 out of 10,000 FBI agents can speak Arabic.
We have supposedly been in a "war on terror" for more than 6 years now, fought mainly against Arabic speaking fanatics. And yet, in all that time, the FBI has only seen fit to hire and/or train 50 people who actually speak the language!
We don't know about you, but this strikes us as preposterous. Our politicians have . . .
> Started, and bungled, two wars, while constantly threatening to start yet a third,
> Squandered trillions of dollars,
> Placed 750,000 people on a terrorist watch list (roughly one out of every 300 Americans),
> Arrested and jailed people without due process,
> Kidnapped people,
> Tortured people,
> Spied on people illegally,
> And generally shredded the Bill of Rights . . .
. . . all in the name of their holy war on terror. And yet, amidst all this waste, crime, sloth, and misdirected effort, the FBI has only found time to hire or train 50 people who speak the language of their enemy. During the Cold War there were probably that many Russian speakers in just one Soviet studies department of any mid-sized university.

Box cutters were the items needed to fly the planes into WTC.
Are box cutters OK? So long as Bush is there to shoot the weapon out of the hands of the terrorist.

Box cutters didn't cause that. Twenty years of constant training that passengers should not interfere with hijackers caused that. It could never happen that way again because no passenger group would allow it.
The only real gain thats been made in airline safety is that passengers realize they have to take matters into thier own hands.

I know it's fashionable in your crowd to blame America and it's leaders but would you have charged the terrorist that just slit the pretty flight attendants throat?
That gurgling blood sucking sound was likely unsettling.
Bush would have emptied his clip while the airline removed the passenger with the Bush is Hitler t-shirt so it's just you
Someone wanna toss out the "One man's terrorist is anothers freedom fighter?"
Kumbaya, my Lord, kumbaya!
