Politics & ReligionWell Since every damn forum has one. Might as well leave it out there. This place is loosely moderated and should not be entered if you're weak of heart.
Here's a single place to discuss the various primaries and caucuses.
Next up: Michigan, Nevada, Florida, Super Tuesday
Since I'm from Michigan (ignore my profile for this one...I work in Vegas but home is Michigan) I'll start there.
McCain is polling ahead of Romney and Huckabee in some polls while others show Romney and Huckabee tied for the lead. At stake are 30 delegates, divided among the candidates.
Hillary is the only candidate on the Dem ballot for Michigan but will get zero delegates b/c the national dem party didn't like the primary date change and took away 100% of MI's delegates. The Republican party penalized the date change by taking away 1/2 of the usual 60 delegates.
So for the Dem's Michigan doesn't mean much. For the GOP side there is some ground that can be gained.

Well, those that consistently vote DEM in Oakland, Kent, and Genesee counties at least with their hands out. Yet they never seem to get anything that was promised to them. Go figure.
Since the GOP delegates are divided between candidates based on number of votes, your boy could pick up a couple if he does well.
It is really stupid and unfair what the national parties did when Michigan changed the primary date. Dems in Michigan must be pissed big time seeing as they will have no say in who the candidate will be on the national ballot. The only thing Hillary can hope for is a media boost since she is the only one on the ballot.

Well like always I don't listen to the media's bias poll estimates on who is going to win or loose Michigan. I'm just going to make sure Ron Paul gets a vote by me.

You do know people in those counties vote Dem because the UAW tells them to vote. My Grandfather always voted for whoever the UAW told him to vote for. Like most UAW workers he could not think outside of the factory enviroment without some UAW rep telling him what to do. *shrug*
One reason why there are UAW retire meetings once a month, my Grandmother still goes to them although my Grandfather is dead. However she votes for who she likes not whot hey tell her to vote for. The meetings are usually the UAW bashing what some politician is doing and putting spin into the peoples minds.
I am obviously not in support of Unions because of what I have seen.

Filled my absentee ballot out over the weekend...my wife will drop it off at the city office when she gets back from Vegas on Tuesday just in time for the primary.

Unions started out as a great thing, but now...not so much. They take money from the workers, and spend it on the politicians they want in office...typical politics. And when it comes time for union "benefits" a lot of people are declined for one reason or another. This happened to my dad when it was time for him to go to college. They told my grandpa he made too much money and didn't qualify. The retarded part is that everyone made the same amount....

The slow process of awakening the masses has begun. Most people are so cynical that they know their vote isn't worth near what it should be.
Politicians are corrupt, special interests rule in DC, our money goes where they want it to go, not where it should. Most people know this and don't expect much more from the current crop of candidates. These people are getting more and more fed up and the bad taste in their mouths won't go away.
It's difficult to see somebody like Hillary win New Hampshire, knowing where most of her campaign contributions come from, knowing her voting record, and knowing her associations with some of the people on her staff. The poor schmucks voting for her either don't know she's a serpent, or have this fairytale idea that the first woman president is going to change things. Then in four years, they'll wonder what the fuck happened.
At one time, I thought people were taking notice of the shit that passes for acceptable politics. Alas, I was wrong. This country will be run into the ground in my lifetime. There's not much we can do about it.
When that time comes, the political elite will be fine. They'll still be able to live comfortably, or in the case of the Bush family, move to their 100,000 acre ranch in another country. We'll all be exactly where we are right now, in an Argentinian SHTF world, asking ourselves why we didn't see it sooner, and why we didn't do something about it instead of worrying about abortions, gays, and evolution.
Hillary Clinton: $567,950
John McCain: $340,365
Mitt Romney: $229,475
Rudolph W. Giuliani: $212,100
Fred Thompson: $90,000
Barack Obama: $76,859
Duncan Hunter: $30,900
John Edwards: $18,900
Mike Huckabee: $6,964
Ron Paul: $0
Dennis Kucinich: $0

dude, totally agree with you. the problem with voting here in america, the majority of the voters are complete idiots and believe what the candidates are actually saying.
after one of the debates, foxnews had a group of about 30 people together to get their opinions of how well the candidates did. they asked how many people right now (this was 2 weeks ago) would vote for hillary, 2 people raised their hand. they then asked how many would have voted for hillary at two months ago, 23 people raised their hand. the question was then asked, if hillary said what they wanted to hear, how many people would vote for her, they all raised their hand.
i am disappointed that these people actually believe that what most politicians are saying are actually what they believe. as a whole, politicians do NOT say what they really believe or what they think, they say whatever the polls tells them to say. it is very sad to think people are swayed by what these candidates are saying rather than their history and their propensity to action on a certain subject.

oh, and another example of idiot voters, a chic asked me while we were in the elevator if i watched the debates the night before and i said no b/c i had the night shift. she said she was disappointed in the candidates. she said she didn't know who she was going to vote for, but would probably end up voting for that "astronaut guy, john somebody." i said "john glenn???" "no, john ... john ..." i said, "you mean, john mccain?" "yeah, that guy!"
man, can i have her vote b/c it's wasted on her.
