Ok, i didn't read all the comments but I have several first hand experiences with this.

Everytime I have made a transit through the SOH (about 7 times total) you see these guys EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU TRANSIT. This is nothing new. They do this ALL the time. Most of the time they are drug runners going from Iran to Oman. The boxes were most likely drugs.

ALOT of times they have gotten close to ships. 5 or 6 of the times I went through they didn't have the exclusion zone set now and I can tell you if it was in place back then they surely broke it.

This last time I went through, right before the war started one boat in particular would not get out of the way. He was warned several times over the radio. The SH-60 flew by and warned him, still wouldn't go. So instead of blowing him out of the water the 60 flew by again and turned the jet wash on him. He didn't like it that much and left

Actually he showed good judgment. Killing the bastards would only make us look bad. There were no bombs it was a propaganda attempt by the Revolutionary Guard. And they're probably talking shit at this moment how they "took on" the US Navy.
