Politics & ReligionWell Since every damn forum has one. Might as well leave it out there. This place is loosely moderated and should not be entered if you're weak of heart.
That was rather entertaining although I was trying to watch the game at the same time.
Ron Paul didnt do so hot, he got a bit manic when discussing foreign policy and Romney fared better but was the other pinata of the night.
I thought Fred Thompson did a nice job and it was comical to see Huckabee soften his anti Bush comments.
The Dems entertained more. I swear I heard the word change 1000 times last night. Hillary had it right sadly, change for the sake of change is bogus without any real plan.
Obama is silky smooth and while I felt Edwards' fire, every time he said the word change his stock plummeted.
Richardson needs to get the fuck out of the race, now. I always liked him but man what a tool he's been.
What did yall think or was I the only fool home on a Sat night?
I missed the Reps. due to dinner, but caught the Dems. I thought that Hillary was made one or two good points, but her attacks at Obama were ridiculous.
He said that he didn't mandate health care coverage with his plan, and she countered by saying he mandated it for children and should basically go all the way and mandate it for everyone like she supports. That really just doesn't make any sense, because of course you are going to mandate it for the people that are too young to make their own decisions, but give rights to those who can. She looked weak on that to me.
I thought both Obama and Edwards looked good and I agreed with most of what they said, (strange because I always thought of myself as an Independent leaning Republican). I am kinda liking the idea of an Obama/Edwards ticket. I don't think that Richardson should pull himself out. Though I didn't agree with him on some of his points, he is probably the most experienced in foreign policy out of all of them.
P.S. I really like how Edwards stood up for Obama and attacked Hillary. I really don't like her. She mentioned that if a woman were President it would represent "change." I didn't realize she was female.

I missed the GOP, but I caught the highlights this morning. I watched the democrats, and it was pretty painful. Obama looked pretty good, and so did Edwards (although I find his policies to be totally inappropriate). Clinton looked pretty uncomfortable, so that's all I really care about. I guess I'm an "ABC" voter when it comes to the Democrats; ABC = Anybody But Clinton.
+1 on the word "change". If I hear that word again "change", it will be too soon.

That's what liberals want to do. They want to run your life from the cradle to the grave. Mandate everything!
IMHO, let people decide for themselves. What's more American than that?
Thats funny considering how many pro-lifers are pushing on the republican side.
Is this your first election? haahhahahahahahahahah
I love your quotes and your avitar, its what I have been saying all along...I see your generation and its so full of anger and just an FYI it serves no purpose to be angry about the past, change what you can in your own life to make your future and the lives of people around you better......its counter productive to anything positive, to anything good. You come out of college and wonder why the $100,000 a year job isnt just waiting for you...its called hard work, go out and create it.....
psstt........dont blame everyone before you, make your own way through life....You leave these posts as, as if you are the ELDER STATESMAN, I never noticed your age hahahahahahahah, show a little respect to people that are older than you, I will guarantee you if you do, it will help you more than hurt you in life......take that as someone that learned the hard way...also
Learn to lower your expectations in life a little, if you do, you will see that the world in a better light, IE: the cup is half full..
No candidiate is perfect and no candidiate will execute everything he or she says they will, if you lower your expectations and think maybe they will get half of their agenda completed in their term. This way you will be pleasantly surprised instead of pissed off like so many of your generation seem to be.
Onto the debates
Dems
I would have to give (it sickens me to say)
Edwards the nod on that one.....
Obama 2nd
Hillary--a very pissed 3rd place
GOP
I ddr'd it and I am only 1 hr into it.....
Ron Paul, he is like a cooky old math teacher, lol..... a true enigma......
I concur with Mike was it?
I thought Fred Thompson did a tremendous job as did McCain and I thought Rudy showed a spark...
Mitt and Huck seem, a little rattled to me, much more so with Mitt but clearly shaken........
I will watch the rest later, when the wife stops bitching about it LOL

So true, I voted for GWB twice despite being firmly pro choice because I know he can't do shit about it.
As for change..
If anyone desires change..
DON'T VOTE FOR ANY INCUMBENTS IN CONGRESS!
The POTUS is rarely the problem, it's the back room deal making Congress (both houses)
If we bounce every last member, even the "good" ones, it will send a clear message to them all.
Serve the people!
None of the people running will be able to do much with the intrenched clusterfuck that is Congress.
"I'm a uniter" BULLSHIT, you're a fucking dreamer.

Some guy in the grocery store checkout line jumped in on a conversation my girlfriend and I were having about how Ann Arbor switched all their lights from incandescents and it was going to save the city like $100000 a year and take the equivalent of 400 cars off the road.
He was pissed that the government was mandating the removal of incandescents from the market by 2012, saying that the government thinks we're stupid and tells us everything to do. I can understand his point, but on something like lightbulbs it really doesn't bother me. The problem is that most people who are still buying incandescents are stupid, because they are more expensive and use more energy. It's a shame that it takes a government mandate to get them off the market, but since this is one of the cases when capitalism won't work on it's own the public needs some help.
The problem is I don't want the government to get carried away with this, and I know it is a fine line to walk. I assume you're probably going to vote Rep. with that comment, so how do you feel about Obama's plan where it is optional for adults but mandated for children? Make sense? Better ideas?

I voted for him twice too, despite being firmly pro choice hahahahahahahah
To me, growing up in a military family, the nations defense is always the number thing I think when I go into a booth, the economy 2nd....Which president is going to protect us better?
Say what you want about GB2, there has not been another attack here, but I can guarantee there will be.......that much is a lock....did he screw a few things up, certianly, but to my point....I never thought he was perfect to begin with, I never thought he would get done half of what he has, so I am not as bent as a lot of people seem to be...
LOWER YOUR EXPECTATIONS OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!
And to Wakey's point, the system of governement we have in place doesnt allow for any candidiate to just mandate.....
In times of war, I lighten up a little on everyone, war has its own special needs and demands......
Even you Ron Paul people, do you actually think he could just snap his fingers and troops are coming home, snap his fingers and fix the budget, snap his fingers and fix the economy?
I think the current POTUS will be given a great deal of credit down the road, that is my lock.
I hope more people watch these debates and make up their own minds and quit giving so much credence to the self appointed king makers in the media.
As for the Iowa's caucus, (the FIRST primary!!) I think 350,000 people participated in an atypical US state. Why did Biden & Dodd step down after a poor showing?
