Default Obama and the flag

My gf told me about this when she saw it on the news. What happened? Was it deliberate or just a goof?

Whatever....we have no idea what is happening in that pic.

That could have been one half second before he put his hand up, and the others beat him to it.

This is the kind of stupid shit that takes the place of discussing REAL issues in the political world.

This thread FTL.

'On Hannity & Colmes, Alan Colmes had the wherewithal to show an image of George W. Bush during the Pledge, and his right hand wasn’t over his heart. Does that mean his patriotism should be questioned? Hannity said no: “[T]he difference here is Barack Obama made a statement about the Iraq war with the flag pin. And to not do it here, people are raising questions about why. Is this another statement?”'

From lapel pins to the Pledge of Allegiance - The Carpetbagger Report

there's a few different views on this.....looks like mostly right-wing news with a slant. i wasn't aware that crossing your heart during the pledge was a requirement for patriotism.

I say the flag represents a time long past and is meaningless as it relates to modern perspectives.

In relation, the 4th of July is a day for cooking on the BBQ and watching fireworks displays.

This is why we're in the mess we're in. We're debating about one's attire folks. Seriously. Nobody criticized the garb you decided to wear today.

I missed the pin thing. Doubtful this will affect people already pulling for him but it might affect those on the fence, intentional or not. Just because its a silly issue doesn't mean its inconsequential.

LOL that's funny they found footage of GW doing the same. But that dude doesn't surprise anyone anymore. I remember that and thought it was pretty silly at the time.

Remember this shit is just a role for these career oriented highly motivated politicians and sometimes they slip being polished for the cameras, other actors/actresses in the different genres have bloopers as well.

I can't freaking believe I am saying this...but even in that pic...we don't really know what is going on.

GWB has his hand too low yes, but maybe that pic was snapped as his hand was ascending to his chest?

I hate GWB with a burning passion that knows no end...but even I would not condemn him (or anyone else) on the basis of one picture like this.

I think Bush was just trying to convey that he was hungry at the time.

This is why I don't watch the news I guess.
