Nah, the in your face stuff actually gets people riled up. If you're trying to make detrimental changes it must be incremental and below the radar. They don't want people up in arms (figuratively or literally).

On the contrary, I think it's very likely.

If it does happen, it will be masked as a response to another terrorist attack, or natural disaster. People will accept it as a panic reaction. Unfortunately they'll see it as Bush saving us, instead of taking advantage of power he shouldn't have in the first place.

I can definitely see that scenario, but in general you don't want the sheeple thinking about what's going on thus standard MO is below the radar.

I'd put money on it.

They're already setting it up by passing numerous laws giving him power that no other American President has ever had (while in peace time), which is in effect setting up this scenario perfectly.

I can see it go down two different ways. I huge terrorist attack, greater than 9/11, just before the elections. He'll put martial law into effect for an indefinite amount of time, which will put off the elections. Or, which I feel is less likely, a terrorist attack sometime after the election and before the new president is to be sworn in, "causing" him to declare martial law and keeping him as the president.

Just gotta keep spreading the word so that the sheeple won't fall for it.

Understandable, I could go either way with this: either a terrorist attack leading him to keep his power or the whole election set up to bring in whoever he wants next to follow his lead (below the radar)

Jinxr, of the two you suggested I'd agree more the the first one. I don't think something happening after the election is done will give the same results unless the person elected is killed in the event.
