POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Motorcyclists in South Florida took to the streets to honor and raise money for two Broward sheriff's deputies, one who died while on duty and another who still clings to life.

Motorcyclists took their hobby from an Internet board to the streets of Broward County. "The motorcycle community in general really appreciates everything law enforcement does," said Stephen Johnston. "We wanted to pay our respects to these two deputies, and we wanted to show a sign of solidarity throughout our community that we do care about law enforcement and everything they do for us."

After leaving flowers for Sergeant Chris Reyka in a Pompano Beach Walgreens parking lot where someone shot and killed him, the group traveled to the spot in Hollywood where Deputy Maury Hernandez was shot in the head to lay flowers. Reyka's killers remain at large, while Hernandez's attacker, who happened to be on a motorcycle when Hernandez stopped him, sits behind bars awaiting trial.

The two shootings happened in the span of a week, leaving Broward County and the employees of the sheriff's department reeling.

SoFlaSportBikes.com wanted to stand up and help the family of Hernandez get through such a hard time. "I want to be able to support events where the bike community is coming out and doing things that are positive," said Cindy Chang.

While Hernandez continues his recovery, the group delivered a check to his wife and brother. The group raised about $1,100.

Detectives are still searching for leads in the murder of Reyka.
