I think they already have been talking about forwarding it to the Ethics Committee. He'll probably resign.
But there's nothing wrong with being homosexual. If he is. Sounds like he's either confused, is gay, or didn't something that was misconstrued for "gay" behavior. Which shouldn't be punishable. Well, I guess if you're soliciting sex in a public area.

Sure, but I think this whole debacle suggests that societally, we shoehorn those that don't fit our understanding of normalcy, and our dissatisfaction with anything less than a homogeneous community.
There's nothing wrong with him being gay, which of course, he isn't.
There are gay members of congress serving our nation now. They aren't resigning.
If he resigns, which I expect he will, it will be because he solicited sex in a public place and got busted by a plainclothes cop, not because he is (or isn't!) gay.

Sorry, but being caught speeding and getting caught trying to solicit a blow job from an undercover officer is NOT the same thing.
You may think it is, but it's not. You are not wired to speed. You can say you don't like speeding, then get caught doing it and get a fine. You're done.
If you come out against gays, as a closeted homosexual yourself, that's not a fine and the public will let you off.
All of the people you've planted the seed into that homosexuality is evil, will come calling for you AND the people who are rational and believe that gays are just wired that way, will come calling for you as well.
