i want the truth, regardless if i'm going to like it or not. i would hope that all military members want the truth be told them seeing that they are putting their lives on the line for it. but who knows how every military member wants information passed on to them.
The $100 million for the political party conventions — $50 million for the Democratic convention in Denver and $50 million for the Republican convention in St. Paul, Minn. — is included in a section described as “Katrina recovery, veterans’ care and for other purposes.”
And it includes $3.5 million for the Capitol’s guided–tour program and $20 million for, in part, insect infestation control in Nevada, thanks to Majority Leader Harry Reid.
"Senate Appropriations Chairman Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., Monday defended the extra spending, describing it as “common sense and good economics.”
“Funding for the war is not the only critical need worthy of the supplemental spending,” he said. The war “must not obliterate every other concern.”"
Yea, then why did they have to add this crap as an earmark to get it approved? Because they know that crap won't stand on its own.
If spending is a major concern, contact the powers that be and urge them to not support the bill.
Being as conservative (NOT REPUBLICAN) as I am lately, I'm inclined to voice my dissatisfaction over it, regardless of the accomodations it makes for brining the troops home.
They tacked all that shit on there because they know bring the troops home is a popular choice, and it will make people look like Bush supporters if they vote against it. What a bunch of crap. Typical democratic bait and switch.

Do you just make up whatever explanation suits your views? On what, exactly, do you base your assertion?

I base my assertion on the fact that they have been all over the news spewing this anti Iraq war agenda(what got them elected) and when it comes down to doing what they told people they were going to do, they throw in a bunch of pork and hope it will be overlooked, because the "big issue" is getting the troops out. They continually bash the Adm about its spending, but when it comes down to it, they are asking for 21 Billion more than Bush did, and that 21billion has zero to do with the troops, the war, or the Vets of which this bill was suppose to be about.

It's common knowledge that the Dems actually did the exact opposite. They couldnt' get support on their own side for the bill so they started adding in pet projects to get more of their own onboard. Both sides do it, I do think it's amusing that they couldn't even get their own people to support the bill even though that's what they campaigned on. Kind of defeating if you ask me. Humorous.
