So I'm left to believe that -- whether you would ever do it or not -- you hold dear the opportunity to shoot someone in secret. And you're willing to let gun wackos have free reign in order to keep it. Now that's love of country.

Jim.. Our solution is NO NEW GUN CONTROL.. That is MY solution.. Just because it doesnt answer your question, doesnt mean its not MY solution. I dont want gun control. I dont want registered weapons.. So my answer is NO NEW GUN CONTROL.
Yes, I am willing to take the chance that some wacko will end up with a gun, if it keeps MY CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to own a gun intact.. Because I dont believe its a good decision to take that right away from 50,000 law abiding citizens, to protect us from ONE wackjob. Me, everyone in my family, and ALMOST everyone I know owns at least one gun, and NONE of us has ever shot someone. Its the CRIMINALS doing the shooting, not Mr. and Mrs. USA.

The great thing about being allowed to carry is that if that wacko goes crazy around where I am, he won't live very long, because there is likely multiple people carrying to neutralize the threat.

Example of effective gun control laws.. The Columbine High School shootings in the late 90's. Those two kids broke over 80 FEDERAL gun laws, and it didnt stop them.. I seriously doubt they even knew most of those laws existed... But what did we do in Colorado???? We passed MORE useless gun laws... very intelligent....
Full Auto AK's are illegal.. And I can have one in under an hour, for less than $500. But you want all weapons registered / banned... I'm sure the UK would love to have you, since they just banned all knives.. I'm sure no one carries a knife anymore...

So now Im to understand that I secretly want to kill people because I dont want the government to know what all I have in my closet?
By the way.........Im debating on filing for a FFL.........so they would know what I have anyways but back to the point.
What good comes from your idea? I dont have a better one..........because it doesnt matter what the tool is, if someone want to kill another human they will do it. A crowbar, a baseball bat, a steak knife, a piece of jump rope.
But because there are people who legaly own and carry guns they must be the boogey man?
What about the asshat with the louisville slugger in the back seat of his olds 98?
I dont see how you can justify stepping on the rights to privacy to pretend taht UNSOLVED murder rates will drop 90% to which we know is bullshit.
You made the claim that nutjob gun owners murder a majority of the time so youll have to back it up.
Cold hard facts mind you...........I want to see a comparison
the fact is, you cant back up your claim with any real evidence.

How many news articles have you read, about some Darwin-winner, that tries to rob a gun store? The ending for that is usually pretty predictible. And funny.

The funniest true article I ever read, I think was written by Massad Ayoob. Not really on the topic of private citizens, but still funny. An armed robber attempted to rob a dough nut shop, next a police station, at shift change. He barely had his gun out before he was, shall we say, neutralized.

Here's some interesting data on the Florida gun situation. You know, that state that passed the "stand your ground" law a year or two ago.
Quote:
The latest report from the Florida Department of State, covering a 6-year, 4-month period from 10/01/87 (start-up date) through 02/28/94, shows that 204,108 CCW permits have been issued -- 69% new permits; 31% permit renewals.
Only one-quarter of 1% of permit applications have been rejected due to an applicant's criminal history; two-tenths of 1% have been rejected due to an "incomplete application." One hundred eighty-seven (0.1%) permits have been revoked because the permittee committed some kind of crime, though not necessarily a gun-related or violent crime, after permit issuance.
After receiving permits, only 17 (0.008%) individuals committed crimes (not necessarily violent) in which firearms were present, though not necessarily used. By contrast, in 1992 there were about 46,000 gun-related violent crimes (assaults, robberies, homicides and rapes) in Florida, based upon FBI Uniform Crime Reports supplementary reports and reported crime totals.
|
Well, there's the first hint of some real numbers in this thread Jim, and it shows that your assumption is... well, wrong.
That data may be old, but it's still hard numbers nonetheless.
Florida is a lot less restrictive when it comes to CCW and use of deadly force in self-defense. Maybe because of this data, or similar data?

Well, we'd all be safer if we took the guns away from the people who have them and gave them to the people who don't.

So the government hands out guns in the ghetto?
These the same people that hands out crack in the ghetto too?
these the same people who make those in the ghetto act irresponsibly?
