To all you folks that are in favor of legalization of drugs... I have a point to raise. I'm not really for or against this argument but I wanted to bring something up....

Think about how crazy the "health" trip that America is on is. Hell, soon smoking will be banned altogether. So how are we going to legalize shit that we know has negative side effects on one side but banned others at the same time? Should we just replace cigarettes with pot? I know there are differences but I think smoking anything over a long period can cause problems. And God knows a lot of other illegal drugs can have some really really severe side effects. And would this shit be over the counter or would you have to go to a doc to get it? Could you imagine the lawsuits when people start ODing

exactly!!!!

everyone seems to think that the entire nation will opt for addiction just because we can. that your average joe is gonna one day decide that his life isn't good enough and get hooked on the junk. why....quite possibly, everyone will decide that since the gov't says drugs are legal that its a fuckin field day and completely flush their lives down the proverbial toilet.....

its funny that the only people that make such statements didn't inhale....

all the modern societies which have a liberal stance on drug policy are obviously outta control because the masses can't control their behavior.

ya know, i set a fairly low bar with respect to expectations of americans, but there is a reason we have generated such success and wealth.....and we saw ourselves through the turn of the century when more than half the population was addicted to opiates.....hence stiff drug policy....hence the prohibition....hence screaming politicians for more money to "help" americans....

Yep, I think the effects of legalizing marijuana would not be as drastic as everyone thinks, I dont smoke but I know at least 3 different people to get it from, and Im not even "networked"

But the "health kick" will probably ensure it never happens. Or if it does it will be regulated in the same way cigarettes are, which still makes sense to me. But as mentioned, everyone is afraid society will fall apart. Have we forgotten about the early 1900's when the stuff was perfectly legal, along with "magic potions" containing all SORTS of things including cocaine predominantly.....

You cannot overdose on marijuana by the way.

And off-topic, have we gotten so spoiled that smoking outside of a restaurant is such a harassment of our freedom? I mean, COME ON, damn. it's called common courtesy people. However, not being able to smoke in your own home IS ridiculous. But if you have a non-smoking spouse or children, it's something that should be obeyed...my dad smoked like a chimney inside our house and I always had lung problems and was never good at sports because of it, the effects were substantial. BUT the government stepping into family matters draws a dangerous line in the sand

So is going outside so the smokers can stay in. You're arguing a relative value.

The equivalent is putting the toilet seat down for a woman. Wouldn't it be polite then, for her to put it up for you? ;-)
