I don't think all drugs should be legalized. Cocaine and heroin obviously have some detrimental heath effects (death), but MJ is less dangerous than alcohol in my opinion.

bush - what makes you make that determination? If you drink bleach or rat poison you die, too. Probably get pretty high before you die tho.

Alcohol poisoning has killed folks. And cigarettes have been poorly linked (IMHO) to cancer which causes death.

Hell, that lady died of water poisoning.

THC is so non toxic its impossible to smoke your self to death. Many studies have also found that smoking marijuana from low to high amounts a day did not show any significant increases in lung cancer.

you actually die of smoke inhalation first. for thc to become toxic, you have to smoke an ounce every 8 minutes...

i think the most i ever smoked was 1/4 in 3 hours....

Not comparing it to THC. I'm saying, how do you make the determination of what is legal vs. what's not... simply based on IF it can kill you or have detrimental health effects?

I prefer to have the government let me do what I want with my own body.

Ohh shit...Bush typed it before I could....Now the reason THC is less dangerous than alcohol is simple....How many fights do you start when you are stoned...Answer=0....How many fights get started on alcohol=most I have been involved in......Now, how many people have been killed by stoned drivers...Probably some....How many people die at the hands of drunk drivers everyday...A whole helluva lot! Case closed! Now some body give me some damn M&M's!

To make a comparison, the legalization of pot is like the legalization of sportbikes.

The only reason it's illegal is the morality pushers saying that there's a potential for you to do something bad while on it.

But Bobby, every study ever performed shows the opposite...So then we go back to looking at why the gubnet wants to keep it illegal...Scatterbrained said it well, but I have a couple things to add! The war on drugs employs how many people....How many Americans would be out of jobs if they weren't getting in the way of the Kahn bud coming to our shores...Coast gaurd, I mean the list is long...they will never legalize it, even though it is less harmful to the body than any drug researched in history.....

That's why I'm saying it's not about the scientific reasons.

It's kind of like this morning on Boortz, the rant topic was "Hybrids should have to install a noisemaker, because blind people can't hear them coming". But there's no documented incidents of a blind person being hit by a hybrid vehicle.

Scientifically gathered facts don't matter to the general public anymore.

Here's how the conversation with my sister went (she has two kids, and mine wasn't born yet):

Me: "$44 billion was spent on locking up pot offenders last year. It should be legal, those people aren't hurting anyone but themselves."

Sis: "What if one of those people smoked pot and got in a car and hit you and killed your baby? Then you'd want it illegal."

Me: "What if it was a drunk driver?"

Sis: "That's illegal."

Me: "But drinking beer isn't."

Sis: "You don't have kids yet. You don't know what it's like."

Me: "Huh?"
