Instead of a usual hanging by dangling the guy from the rope until he suffocates they just wrapped the noose around his kneck and dropped a trap door underneath him. Snapping his neck...
They also have a video of his corpse afterwards. Shows a little red meat sticking out of his neck.
I never knew they did it that way, let alone today.

That's how it's supposed to be done. The noose is meant to break the neck and kill instantly.
When somebody suffocates at the end of the rope, it wasn't done right.

Would be a lot more painful I guess. Given the fact you are suffocating... Don't know if that is very painful, but would be more dramatic than just a drop.
