It's just the first of many laws to come if democrats get their way !!!!

Its the way to fight crime they will say (prosecute the bat not the person that used it)
It's this attitude I don;t agree with, I personally don't like the idea of high powered assult rifles being readily available to any dipshit, this type of weapon can do alot of damage in the hands of anyone.

With that being said I know a single shot .22 can be deadlier then any gun in the hands of the right person.

No, I'm not smoking crack today. The move to limit any personal firearm is a move to limit all firearms. The fact that you don't see a reason to ban any pistol, doesn't mean that the 'government' doesn't. If ten people were murdered with SW.40 tomorrow, there would be a move to limit the sale/possession of SW.40 by some self serving politician. It's just the nature of the beast.

I'm not advocating the possession of 'assault weapons', I'm advocating the possession of weapons, ala 2A, which includes yours. I'll fight just as hard for your .40 as my AR.

Totally truthful...and it was one of the few days I didn't have my 9mm in the car with me. I had the drop on the MFer and would have definately shot him if I had my gun...ended up trying to run him over in a rental car. Looooong story.

Cops that caught him told me they would have been happy if I had killed him with my vehicle...also told me I would have been extremely justified to have shot him.

Amanda Davis on Channel 5 Eyewitness News in Atlanta said "Like a scene from a Hollywood movie.." before they aired the story of what happened to me...

Jeez, people...

No government entity should ban a device based solely on how it looks. Well, maybe the Yugo...

The assault weapon ban is and always was just about looks. Scary!

By definition, provided by the US Department of Defense, an assault weapon is a medium powered rifle capable of selective fire - both automatic fire and semiautomatic fire.

Is that the kind of weapon Maryland is talking about???

Can't disagree with that ban!

No, MD wants to ban the scary looking guns. Of course, to the ones that want the ban, if they were truthful, all guns are scary.

Federal law limits the sale, transfer, and possession of real 'assault weapons'. This law just gives the state more power to limit the possession of any weapon it finds offensive, or scary. Look at the full list. I know a bunch of guys that will be made criminals if this law passes, and a lot of them are LEO's.

Will it pass? I hope not. The point is that we are at a place when our elected officials can even suggest this kind of nonsense, and it will find a level of support among the masses.

The USP Tactical is available in .40 S&W and would be banned by the proposed law.

MD = completely fascist. i'm surprised they even allow cops to carry here!

as for the poster from virginia sweating out a proposed gun control bill in maryland, sleep sound, my friend! your lawmakers have a racial perspective reminiscent of the 1700's, I'm sure their outlook on guns is just the same.

Really? How much do you really know about VA politics?

We do have sensible gun laws in VA. Use a gun during a crime and you'll get an additional 5 years minimum, mandatory. No silly tacked-on misdemeanor.

Most "assault weapons" aren't very powerful in the grand scheme of things. An AR-15 is a .22 cal, just with a bit more zip to it. My AR is pretty much limited to duty as a squirrel exploder/paper puncher, not much more. It wouldn't make a very good hunting rifle. Home defense (if you want to call it that) is left to an 870 12ga and/or Kimber TLE.

A gun is an inanimate object, I don't care if it's an M60 or derringer, they are only as safe as the person handling it.

(I'm sure you know this but just to expound on the point...)

Any firearm capable of firing more than one bullet with a single function of the trigger (ie - full-auto or burst fire) is classified under federal law as a machine gun. And machine guns are already (very heavily) regulated under Title II of the National Firearms Act (passed in 1935).

The Maryland bill in question is a ban on semi-auto weapons, more-or-less in line with the old federal Assault Weapons Ban. I didn't do a line-by-line comparison, but the main points are all there; it's the same old "scary" gun ban.

Yeah, I agree on the Aztec, and I knew the proposed ban is for assault 'style' weapons. I posed a rhetorical question.
