Default Let's put it up for a vote. Since you all seem to skirt around it

Would you let poor people die in a disaster?

Plain and simple. If the opportunity arose to help a poor person, like in hurricane Katrina, would you? Or would you just let them die because they didn't "help themselves".

Vote up.

The poll will be public.

Rich or poor, people deserve the right to die with diginity and self respect regardless. In a disaster EVERYONE needs to be assisted. Rich or poor......it could be yourself needing help someday.

No one DESERVES anything, even in death.

I expect help from no one, in fact, I plan for it. Of course I will help someone, if it is possible. But my family and I come first.

Everyone deserves a helping hand in such case. Exept if that person is truly a bad person in which case he go fuck him/herself.

I voted yes, because I honestly believe that in a disaster, I wouldn't be worried about helping anyone other than myself/my family.

I voted, "NO." While I don't believe anyone "deserves" anything-- it the old "you reap what you sowe."

But I would not feel good about myself if I turned my back on anything that needed help and I was able to provide the assistance needed.

So you still wouldn't help them even though you would be hating yourself after they had died? It just sounds like you should've voted "yes".

as above, rich or poor, im helping my family first. i expect everyone else to do the same. it is not in my interest to help the rebuild as i dont live there, so they should be running the shovels. people suffer everywhere, i dont help them either.

did anyone here help the people of thailand after the tsunami, given that their gov't doesn't have the money or resourses to spoon feed the victims like we do?

now, in a burning building/car, i'd go in....but there isn't much you can do in a hurricane.

I removed the word "poor" from this pole when I voted (which I voted "yes" to, mind you). I don't feel that it's my fault that they are poor, there's schools near them. They should have taken the chance as children to do what they could then to pave a good road ahead of themselves for their future. They want to fuck around all their life and then bitch and moan about how much it sucks? Not my fucking problem. People who do what they can earlier in life (not sit on their asses complacently) most likely weren't fucked over by this completely.

So, in other words, you made it easier on yourself by removing the defining word from the question, so you could tell yourself that you're ok?

Can't change the question.

How is it making it tougher? I just lumped all groups together, thus including more people. In effect, that may make it "tougher" because it involves, rich, poor, black, white, legal, illegal, et al.

I don't really get this poll. Can you elaborate it more? I mean, I let people die every day. I'm not a god.

If this is a question of whether I would help rich people before I helped poor, then the answer is yes. Poor people will continue to be a burden. The vast majority of rich people aren't rich because they just sat around waiting for handouts.
