Victims of Katrina that are treated with little or no sympathy are treated that way bacause they chose to stay. Victims of their own choices (with the exception of the disabled and elderly, who truely couldn't leave). Status is highlighted here because you made it the focal point of your thread.
Again, if you think you're "smart" by walking out into a cat 4 storm with no garauntee of shelter, then you're not smart.

Again, the floods caused the deaths. The levees weren't supposed to break. Read the Army Corp of Engineers report. They FUCKED UP.

Your arguing for something that's not smart and wasn't an option. EVERY expert from the goverment on down has said so. The only ones still arguing your point are conservative talk show and blogs with NO evidence and pure conjecture.

How many days did you spend rebuilding homes in Mississippi/Louisiana, Fargin Bastage? I spent 9 days over the last few months in Mississippi. I'm conservative and not really happy that people didn't leave (even worse for the inhabitants of New Orleans). I still spent those days in 98+ degree heat, shitting in a bucket to help people that you say I have no regard for. Fuck you and your high horse.

Ask Ray Naygin to take this poll. He had plenty of time to make things happen and did nothing. A real man of action. Liberals should be ashamed that he was re-elected.

Wow, I didn't expect this from you.

Actually, I did and will, as usual, find more intelligent responses on thing attached to toilet paper.

Where did you rebuild houses in Mississippi? And again, what does this have to do with the government messing up on Katrina?

I donated to Katrina and am active in Chicago charity. So, fuck you and YOUR high horse. People help how they can AND this still has nothing to do with the point.

Where do you want to go now?

No, things aren't so simple, but the fact remains that the people should have taken the schooling the government offered them, and made a good life for themselves. Not my fault they fucked up.
A bullet doesn't discern between rich or poor, black or white, lazy or zealous. If you just had 2 people unload their 16 round (yes thats 32 bullets)magazines into you because you didn't realize your gfs ex was a gun toting mad man and now you can't work because of it. Your right arm is now severly damaged, hand shot like swiss cheese,5 bullets lodged in your back that can't be removed, can't do physical work, can't type, can't write due to being hit by over a dozen bullets. Most times the cops saw anyone on Staten island get hit and live. Another walking down the street got hit by a stray bullet in the head,no physical therapy for him. They musta been drug dealers right. Dumbass. What about if a guy who gets hit by a drunk driver while crossing the street has no health insurance and they never find driver. Hes now stuck with hundereds of thousands in hospital bills. What about if your mother gets cancer but her job just decreased the health coverage percentage on certain drugs like chemo. Your family would be in debt like you wouldn't believe. Guess that would make you expendable, huh?

I am done with this one.

It's worthless arguing with you all. One can only wish karma is real.

What, did you run out of words that you had looked up in the dictionary to use as insults against everyone that disagrees with you??

Apologies, I was using my laptop and it was late. I thought that the "damn" was "darn."

However, I still don't believe for one second that ANYONE who has never been involved in a certain situation can say 100% for sure what they would do. They can say what they would LIKE to do, or what they THINK they would do, but, I don't think that anyone can claim with 100% certainty what their reactions would be in a situation that they have never been exposed to.

Example, using the event that this thread is apparently about, and what happened following said event:

I have never in my life stolen anything.

I would like to think that when the looting in New Orleans began after Katrina, I wouldn't have gotten involed and wouldn't have stolen anything.

However, since I have never been in a situation like that, I cannot say for 100% certain that I would not have gotten involved in the looting.

I would gladly help poor people in a disaster. But not Scumbags and criminals which seems to be a large majority of the Katrina "victims?"

Doppelganger is making me ponder a situation, for those of you with guns.

In a disaster, what would you have done if the local police or nat guard came around your neighborhood trying to disarm you?

Fargin, if your point is to illustrate the failure of the Fed, i think thats fairly apparent. the levees broke and you are surprised? drive a metal spike in the ground and pour concrete on it??? sounds like it'll save the city. the Dutch have been fighting off the north sea for hundreds of years.....70% of the country was flooded in 1953(6), THEY BUILT BETTER LEVEES! Check the engineering....

We get it, the govt is to blame. We are bad people for not caring. You continually preach that you are better than us. Your rhetoric is getting old....

I voted no. People aren't always poor by choice. A friend of my family was making 50K/year, had a bachelor's degree, and had just purchased a house when he was hit by a drunk driver and lost both his legs. He intended to head back to school to retrain himself, and sold his house to pay off his medical bills. A complication arose from the double amputation, and he ended up in a coma for a few years. He woke up recently, and headed back to school like he planned, workin' towards his PhD. But he has hundreds of thousands of dollars in bills right now... Financially, his life is fucked.

If this guy lived in my building, and it caught on fire, you're damned right I'd help him out.

I would give them my registerd 9mm.. And hide the rest that are not registered.... I dont think I would get in a shootout over it, but giving up one piece isnt gonna affect my ability to defend myself very much...
