If the gas tax was suspended? The Massachusett's legislature and Lt. governor have been talking about suspending the gas tax at fuel pumps between a specific number of dates.
Would you buy more fuel? Where and how would you store it? How long would the fuel remain functional in storage?
uh... no...... Storing enough fuel to make it worthy might be a little dangerous lol. Only time we fill up the cans we have is when a hurricane is coming to run the generator if need be.
I still travel as much as I have too, less joy riding(in a car) though but now im use to it so I don't waste as much gas as before but the answer is no, I'll use the same ammount.
I disagree man...if you have a nice clean tank to store fuel in it will last over a year...I live around alot of farms and one of my uncles does that all the time. I think the tank he uses is around 300 gallons, one for farm diesel and another for good quality unleaded. The only bad thing is buying a tank can be a little pricy im guessing, but if you used it alot it would be worth it in the long run.
I'm not sure what your tax rate per gallon is....but say it is only 25 cents or so you save times 300 gallons is a saving of only 75 dollars....now I know that is a good amount of money, but think of having to buy something to store it in, and deal with the hassel....it isn't worth it. IMO anyways.
Federal rate on gasoline is 18 cents, but add in the rest of the federal taxes (and embedded taxes) and you're looking at more like 60-70 cents per gallon. I'm sure they'd only take out the 18 cents at the pump, though.
States vary from 6 cents up to 30 cents. Believe it or not, California isn't the top one It's like Minnesota or something.
Locality taxes are on top of that. Then sales tax is calculated.
When Georgia suspended their gas tax, it dropped the prices of gasoline by about 6 cents.
Claifornia gas prices still suck though. I pay between $3.06 and 3.10 for 87 at the cheapest station around.
The answer the origional question. If I had somewhere to store the gas then I would probably stock up, but because I only have a motorcycle right now and no place to store the gas, then no.
