i'm just sitting around watching the end of a "history channel" program that says the mayan civilization believed that the end of the world would be on december 21st, 2012. apparently, there's an expected astrological alignment of some sort.

now, personally, i think it's a load of shit, but how does everyone else think about this? is this a valid theory?

i've seen programs in the past that predicted armageddon-type disasters, most notably, a program i saw in 1996 that stated there would be a super-earthquake in february 1998 that would render most of the united states under water. obviously, this has not occurred.

i believe that nostradamus predicted the end of the world would occur in the year 3498 (or so). any comments?

I'm fairly confident that that date is the deadline for Earth to inaugerated into the fifth dimensional galactic community, so if the aliens show themselves this year, that will give us 6 years to clean the planet of polution and make ourselves respectable for the arrival and visitaion of other star peoples.

The specific date of 21st of December 2012 is the moment when something happens to our view of the Milky Way Galaxy from Earth. It divides/becomes symmetrical or something like that.

The earth, as seen by aliens, is 4.5 billion years old. The earth year "2012" came a long fucking time ago, if it's so widely prophesied in the galaxy.

But that's cool, I'm sure the aliens are still in touch with humankind and realize that we started the calendar over about 2000 years ago.
