It is really amazing that you think this accident is so comical...so instead of helping to educate you think it is so funny...I've been shot...I still have a wound in my leg that hasn't completely healed in over 25 years...I will remind you about this joke of yours the next time you get on your soapbox about drinking and driving, as I have been directly affected by both...and don't find either to be anything to joke about

In Fargin's defense....he has been a victim drunk driving as well.

Yep, nearly killed by a load of #4s in a duck hunting accident. But no one remembers who pulled the trigger nor did anyone here badmouth that incident.

You're reaching for Mars dude. This board wasn't here when Greg LeMond was shot (1987.) You're right though. I had to check the date and I didn't remember his brother-in-law's name.

I find it comical that you let political bias affect simple judgement.

I can also state by near certainty that no one here witnessed the incident involving Whittington and the VP either.

So many here think they can pass judgment.

For the record, I was shot by birdshot from an Ithaca 12 gauge pump while doing a ride-along with the local sherriff's office. I was deputizied by the officer to help him apprehend the suspects who were poaching. Before we were able to see the culprits, they shot in our direction, peppering me with #8's. Yes, it hurt like hell but no, it was not anywhere near fatal.

The witnesses gave an account of what happened in the articles.

I blame the victim because it was whittington's fault...He left the line and showed up where he wasn't supposed to be...Yes, Cheney has to take partial blame because he was tracking the bird and fired...However... this situation is much like an earlier thread I posted in on this board where a fellow fell today... he said a squid passed him on the left, crossing a dbl yellow into oncoming traffic...The accident happened because someone unexpectedly showed up somewhere they weren't supposed to be and caused an accident. Cheney was not blindly firing at noise in the brush...he was tracking/sighting the bird and when he fired, Whittington step out in front of the firing line 30 yards away...I can understand why you don't understand any of this because you don't have a clue about bird hunting...so you are making comments about something you know little or nothing about...everyone who was there is saying the same thing...Whittington walked out in front of the line...

Your first inclination is to blame Whittington. This is not the case. The fault lies with the person pulling the trigger. It's on every hunting safety site I can find. Why is it different in this case?

Because it's Cheney, and that's wrong.
