You still haven't made the business case you claimed. There is no way of saying definitively that the movie would have driven business away. Not to mention that the group who was protesting it, wasn't protesting the theater in question.

AND the theater is not showing a movie on objectionable moral grounds and yet will show a movie about torture.

This is simply religious ignorance.

EDIT: In further reading on the subject, the Census only counted couples. There are estimates that this undercounts the population significantly. So, you still could be wrong.

I think this religious ignorance card is being overused. We need to establish for a fact that the theater owner is Mormon (believe it or not you don't have to be Mormon to live in Utah).

And we should take into account that the LDS church did not make any kind of official statement condeming the movie or ask it's members not to see it. I think this is simply an area where the population has strong Christian morals and the general concensus among Christians, not just Mormons, is that homosexuality is wrong.

So maybe I'm just getting the wrong impression from you FB, but I don't want this to turn into a Mormon bashing issue.

I don't like any religion.

but, What groups are bashing the movie? It's just reality that this has become a religious issue.

Not singling anyone out, this just happens to be in an area with a large LDS population.

It's funny, because of the people who actually LIVE here in Utah, we all
understand why Larry Miller did what he did.. it was smart for his business.

It is THOSE people that are the customers of Jordan Landing.

I challenge both you and Fargin Bastige to come out here to Utah and I'll
personally take you down south to meet some REAL ranchers, hands, and
cowboys.. The real ones, not movie ones.. moving herd thru BLM lands and
the like. You can discuss the premise with them.

But enough of that.. the simple fact is that Larry Miller didn't show the movie
because he didn't want to.. and as a business OWNER he can do that.

As a non-religous, non-Utah resident, heterosexual male, you couldnt pay me to go see this movie, based on its premise. The last thing I want to see is fudge packing cowboys. Deal with it.

Fargin, I like you, normally I agree with you, but I think in this, you are fighting a losing battle, your statement that "statistically" 10% of LDS land Sandy are gay, is like saying that (hypothetically) since 50% of the US population is white, that 50% of the population in Harlem is white as well. It is a logical fallacy, and sometimes you have to accept that in certain parts of the country, like minded people congregate.

P.S. I would bet the gay population of say, San Fran is a bit higher than 10%
