Point exactly, maybe he didn't have the knowledge before he bought it and now after reading my post he does. Then here you are talking about its perfectly fine to be 20 sizes to large so that it doesn't do its job to the fullest extent. I guess its a good thing pavement is less hard the slower you go.
Yes that jacket is bigger than I would prefer but you cant argue with free. A budddy bought it and quit riding a few months later. I have a leather jacket as well but youll roast in a matter of minutes riding around in 95 degree weather in that thing. Yes I would prefer to have proper fitting gear but things are expensive, and Ill gladly take what I can. That might not make sence to someone whos had so many bikes by the time they're only 19 and probably has his parents money to thank for them. Im not out racing at the track or poppin whellies down the street, I just ride because I love to ride. Any jacket is better than nothing in my opinion...
Anyway, here is another picture of my gear. Icon Accelerant H2O boots, Icon mesh jacket (nice and cool on those summer days in new mexico), a scorpion exo helmet, and some alpinestar gloves. Yes, there are no pants, thanks for the update. They are something Ive been looking into getting but money is tight having just bought my first house, and they will probably be another month or so down the road. The boots are incredibly comfortable. I wear them on my ride to work everyday, and sometimes forget to change shoes when I get there because the are so comfortable. They are also water proof which was nice since I just got caught in the middle of a thunderstorm yesterday an hour and a half out into the Jemez mountians.

Fall trip. Before I bought the riding pants and matching mesh gloves. Tour Master Rain jacket (blocks the wind over the perf leathers!)+ Shift kevlar jeans.
New Rough&Road mesh jacket and Firstgear pants because it's 90+ and HUMID every day. I'd be having a heat stroke in the leathers on this kinda trip.
3rd day of a 1 week tour with mesh jacket & gloves:

I think something that fits perfect feels more comfortable than something that is way to big. At the same time you don't need to be racing, at the track or stunting to wreck. I guess I dress for the drunk driver that's waiting to hit me, even though I quite riding street cause, its not you its others.
Old pictures from when I had my EX500, hopefully I'll have another mount soon ...
Helmet was an HJC CL-15 Cyclone, Fieldsheer Mesh jacket, Teknic Chicane perf'd short cuff leather gloves, jeans (usually wrangler or levi ), and Setup Vision boots. I however no longer own any of that gear, but I will be going back to Fieldsheer and HJC, great gear IMO.
