Default *Long* Iceman's July 30th Group Ride With SoCal Sportbikes

The route was Highland Valley, Old Julian, Banner Grade, Yagi Pass, Montezuma and home. We started out in drizzling rain that turned into a light shower, then made it down to the desert in Borrego Springs where is was 95 and clear. 22 riders in all.

The morning started out with me tipping my effing 954 over at the gas station in Mira Mesa. I put the stand down and got off the bike, but when I did the stand folded back up and the bike fell over on the side of my right knee. I caught it just before it hit the deck and slowed its fall, but I still ended up with a small scratch on the stator cover.

It was wet as hell in the morning and all the way out Highland valley, Old Julian and part of banner grade.

There was one lowside on Highland valley, but we had a chase truck so no big deal. The rider was fine.

Here are the pics...

Getting ready for the group shot

Group shots on bikes (I am all the way to the left on the 954)

I loved the Borrego ride...possible even more so than Paly, but that's just because I'm not pro.

Banner is no joke though...no joke at all!

Did you hit up Mesa Grande at all?

I'm looking at shipping my vehicle into San Diego, hopefully.

No we had originally planned to, but it was all wet.

Banner and Montezuma were the only dry twisties we hit.

Mesa Grande, Paly fast & tight, old julian, highland valley and the 1st 1/3 of Banner were all wet. It sucked at first!

Edit: So you will be in town huh? Nice! Anyone have a bike they want to loan Rascus? If you don't...he will BAN you!

Because I was there as a "guest"...

It's never polite to invite a bunch of people that you have never ridden with to a group ride with people you've never ridden with.

I thought you L.A. / Riverside peeps had your own group ride on the 30th...what happened?

LOL... relax ... I was just kidding. But hey... you and your gang are more than welcome to any of the SoCal rides posted in the Cali board.

And judging from the pics... our Big Bear ride went almost the exact same way! But we started with 100+ degree temps with clear sky's... then lightning, thunder... then drizzle, then downpour... then hail... then over-cast... then 100+ degree weather again!
