Well heres what happened to my first bike. What happened was one day oil and gas decided to spew out of the engine and soak the filter and housing. Eventually the carbondaters decided to backfire into itself causing a proton nucleosphere cumbustion reaction and it done blown up I guess. Funny thing is we had newspaper underneath the bike to soak up gas/oil which caught fire and left pretty quickly. Caught my dad's oil soaked shirt on fire and the airbox officially melted.

We managed to put the fire out with a old dry blanket/tablecloth (cant tell now) and a few cups of water after 5-6 min of fighting with it. After everything was extinguished, I remembered I had a fire extinguisher in the racecar that was sitting right next to me during all this. Oh well, heres some pics. Thought you might like them. Stay safe and keep your carbs clean.

Oh and it's a 1989 Yamaha Radian 600 if you care to know.

On the bright side, now you can do some crazy filter pod induction system!!

That sucks though man, my Radian does the same thing with gas, I think...at least it leaks it all out every now and again. I've found that it ONLY does it when it's got less than half a tank, so whenever I'm low on gas, I just open the gas cap and leave it open when the bike is sitting and I seem to have no issues.

I have had so many problems with the bike ever since i got it. Ive had it running fine a few times where ive taking it on a few lengthy trips. But I sold a few weeks ago (actually i traded for a wicked dune buggy) it to my friends dad who had it running pretty much the next day with zero problems. I beleive its running still w/o problems.
